@Sheri_Whitten - Yes, you can hide them on the profiles but by default they are always checked and visible. We'd prefer our group admins not have the option to include them at all or accidentally do so. We'd prefer to have full control at the system level of the objects available for our users.

@RandyRoberts - reading your comment and your idea, I agree and I liked your idea.  I will say that my use case is very specific to expanding the functionality of filtering in Planner. It lacks the ability to do anything extensive with filtering in comparison to other parts of the tool.
