AEM best practices and development guide by kiransg Abstract Requirement: Get the list of broken asset references to unpublish and remove them repo to improve the system stability and performance. Introduction: How do assets get published? The author uploads the images and publishes the assets Create a launcher and workflow which process assets metadata and publish the pages Whenever we publish any pages and if the page has references to assets, then during publishing, it asks to replicate the references as well. What happens when the page is unpublished? When the page is deactivated, assets referenced to the page will not be deactivated because this asset might have reference to the other pages hence out of the box assets won’t be deactivated. If we perform cleanup, deactivate and delete old pages, we might not be cleaning up assets related to this page. Advantages of cleaning up old assets? Drastically reduces repository size Improves DAM Asset search Improves indexing Read Ful
As we know thatFinal (granite:FinalArea) - Defines a node as final. Nodes classified as final cannot be overlaid or inherited. Final nodes can be used directly via sling:resourceType. Subnodes under final node are considered internal by default like the below one - But now I need to add some custom logic in following file /libs/cq/personalization/components/target/engine_cq.jsp as per my project requirement. To overcome this challenge one idea has come to mind and I would like to share it here so that all of you could review and share your thoughts : Here is my approach - I need to manipulate List<Teaser> teaserList in engine_cq.jsp.Already I have decompiled the OOTB[TargetedContentManager] service and bundle associated with engine_cq.jsp and identify the method exactly where I need to add my custom logic so that it will work for my project and won't make any impact with remaining AEM sites. Adobe Experience Cloud messaging collaboration in the works by Don Fluckinger Abstract Adobe previewed a new feature on its roadmap -- a cross-team collaboration chat client dubbed Project Quick Connect that may eventually be embedded across Adobe Experience Cloud and Adobe Workfront. In the Project Quick Connect use case Adobe presented, a retail data analyst could use the feature to spot a sales trend in Adobe Analytics and discuss next steps with a marketer to take advantage of the insight in an upcoming campaign. Chat threads can be documented in both Adobe Analytics annotations or within Workfront so that teams have a record of the conversations and actions taken within them. "It's clearly aimed at bridging a classic insight-to-action gap in the enterprise," said Benjamin Bloom, a Gartner analyst. "If you think about what an analyst is trying to accomplish, they want the organization to make a decision -- to take data and turn it into something that they will do differently ba

One of our publish servers keeps getting CPU usage notifications for 90% consumption. We pulled down the thread dumps, and analyzed it on the IBM Thread dump analyzer. We realized that there are many instances of jdk.internal.misc.Unsafe.park, around 303 threads (look below for the total amount of Identical Stack trace's listed below in the table. 225 waiting threads, 54 timed_waiting. log4j Vulnerability: AEM is Safe Out-of-the-Box by Joey Smith Abstract Earlier this week, we posted a blog going through a high-level summary of the recent log4shell security breach. This breach has a CVSS score of 10.0, and every business and government entity that uses or may be using the log4j library should be evaluating their systems and patching them if necessary. In this article, we won’t dive into the logistics of the vulnerabilities in log4j. Instead, we will be exploring more closely why Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), as it is out of the box, is not susceptible to the log4j vulnerability and security breach. Understanding log4J versus log4j-over-slf4j Log4j is an open-source java code library widely used throughout the Java community. Security researchers recently uncovered a vulnerability in log4j that allows an attacker to run arbitrary code on almost any java service. With this vulnerability, an attacker could inject their own code to make a server running log4j do
What's in a Good Error Message? by Gunnar Morling Abstract As software developers, we’ve all come across those annoying, not-so-useful error messages when using some library or framework: "Couldn’t parse config file", "Lacking permission for this operation", etc. Ok, ok, so something went wrong apparently; but what exactly? What config file? Which permissions? And what should you do about it? Error messages lacking this kind of information quickly create a feeling of frustration and helplessness. So what makes a good error message then? To me, it boils down to three pieces of information which should be conveyed by an error message: Context: What led to the error? What was the code trying to do when it failed? The error itself: What exactly failed? Mitigation: What needs to be done in order to overcome the error? Let’s dive into these individidual aspects a bit. Before we start, let me clarify that this is about error messages created by library or framework code, for instance in fo

The onboarding journey illustrated below is designed for a System Administrator persona, laying out the requirements, steps, and approach. The journey defines additional personas with which the System Administrator must interact for a successful project, but the point-of-
Introducing the Adobe Marketo Engage Data Streams by Benjamin Johnson Abstract Marketo Engage has a wide range of customers, each of whom has their own marketing complexities, scale, and goals. The Lead Management application allows for substantial customization and scale; however, it is still based on a single general marketing pattern expanded to allow for adaptation, which may not perfectly match every customer’s preferred marketing plans. This can lead to difficulties when a marketing pattern diverges from the expected, essentially trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Most customers can successfully implement their marketing using the functionality that Marketo Engage provides out of the box, but sometimes additional tweaking is required. Over time, Marketo Engage instances tend to grow in both size and complexity. As the number of leads, campaigns, assets, users, and all other data increases, marketing program management becomes more difficult. At scale, it can become an
Implementing an AEM Connector by Adobe Abstract Provided below are useful references for building AEM Connectors and should be read in conjunction with guidance on submitting and maintaining connectors. Note that a Developer license for AEM can be obtained through the Adobe Exchange Program. Common Integration Patterns AEM is a cutting-edge web experience management solution and offers many potential areas of integrations. Common integration patterns include: Pulling data from an external system into AEM. For example, exporting contact information from a CRM to make it available to a wider audience visiting an AEM-powered website. Implementations should use Sling’s Scheduled Jobs, which guarantees that the job is executed even if containers go down. Code should be designed to assume that the job can potentially be triggered more than once. Exporting data from AEM into an external system. For example, newsletter subscription settings submitted on an AEM-powered website to a CRM. Ret

Since I updated to version 6.5 I can create pages from a parent node without problems, but, it's not letting me create a page in the case where the parent has more than one offspring of nodes. The funny thing is that if no child node has been created, a new page can be created without problems, but once a new page is created, no more can be created.
