I want to be able to have the custom form before attach document and other default fields. I also want to make some of the default fields required for request submission.

We'd love this too!! Also we want to be able to change the name of some of these default fields. For example the 'Planned Completion Date' we use this so when we convert to a task we click 'keep completion date' but we would like users to see this as 'Due Date' just in the request custom form process.

Yes! it's confusing for the users to scroll down through the default fields to access the custom ones.

Document attachment should be somewhere at the end of the request.

We'd love to be able to have the ability to flag some of the out-of-box fields as 'required', when a request is submitted. For example, you can select the queue option to display the Description field when a request is submitted. However, you can not set this as a required field. With that said, people will skip it and not fill it out. As a result, we had to create a redundant custom field for Description, just so we could set it as a required field when a request is submitted. Seems a little silly, but it helps. It would be nice if any of the fields on the queue that you have the option of displaying, you could also have the option have making each one required or not. :)

Great idea!

Here's another example of basically the same problem

Right now workfront request queues have a "global" (to all queue topics within the root queue) setting for show the following selected fields to all users

Description
URL
Assigned To
Status
Priority
Severity
Document Upload
Primary Contact
Planned Start Date
Planned Completion Date
Planned Hours
Job Role
Team

But you cannot set these fields on a queue topic level. Sometimes we want the Document Upload section to be placed in some queue topics and not in others. The work around to this is to add custom forms that point to some custom field almost equvalent to what you're trying to do which leads to confusion inside of the Object that gets created as you don't know where to look for the data (Is it in Issue details or in custom forms?? )

Here's two of many available fixes that would work for us.

* Allow setting those global fields at a Queue Topic level
* Allow custom forms to point to existing fields in workfront. Example: a custom form that has issue description so that the data makes more sense (And also allows you to add things like the document upload field)

I can't believe this Idea hasn't received more traffic / votes. We have to create custom data fields to use instead of the OOB fields since the application doesn't provide us with the ability to indicate when we would like them to be required on a project. This also creates extra confusion on the part of the users as well. Would really like to see this get on the roadmap.

Also, I'll be submitting another Idea, if one has not already been submitted, to give us the opportunity to select different combinations of which New Issue fields should be displayed, at the Queue Topic Level, instead of for the entire queue. We like to have a more streamlined interaction for the user if for a particular Queue Topic on a project doesn't involve attachments, assignments, etc, but on other Queue Topics on the project they should.

Thank you for your votes and comments! This functionality is on our roadmap for improving general usability of Workfront application and planned for 2019. Be sure to attend our roadmap calls to get the most up-to-date information.

Yes, the above would be great. Issues would also be much more useful if we could set the default Planned Hours independently from the default Planned Duration at the queue topic level. Thanks!

Hi everyone.

As an update on this, the feedback you have provided on this area in general is being incorporated in a large initiative on heavily improving the intake experience. As it is a large initiative, the ETA goes out of the guidelines set for Idea Exchange Planned ideas, hence we are marking this as Not Planned. However, we will be reaching out proactively during the research phase of the aforementioned initiative for further details and feedback on the topic.

Thanks,

Vazgen

Vazgen, I wanted to find out if this large initiative would include bringing visibility/logging related to Queue Setup changes? On the old hub, I had opened an enhancement request to handle this (08/30/17); however, I don't see this particular item on the Idea Exchange.

Enhancement #7365111 - Provide System Admin Capability to See Log of all Change Made to a Project including Queue Setup

One more than one occasion we have found a need to be able to see a log of queue setup changes that were made to a project, however, these aren't available in the Updates Feed options and they don't appear to automatically be logged in they updates tab.

Please provide a mechanism to see these updates. Thanks!
