Future of Developer Experience at Adob by Jonathan Abstract Front-line workers are, undoubtedly, the superheroes of the day, rising to new challenges and pushing themselves harder than ever before to help others and save lives in the face of the global pandemic. Behind the scenes, developers have been doing their own work to keep the world running safely. When the world pivoted to digital-first, developers were there to virtually connect families, friends, and co-workers; to provide the underlying plumbing for digital grocery shopping and restaurant takeout, which suddenly went from conveniences to critical services; and for comedy relief and distraction. Entire businesses had to pivot in weeks if not days, and developers were there to rally for the cause, keeping workers employed, businesses afloat, and people connected in the process. While our work does not compare to the sacrifices made by front-line workers, I am very proud to be part of a community that has, in its own way, st
Walgreens launches Covid-19 vaccine portal with Adobe Experience Cloud by Stephen Frieder Abstract In Summer of 2020, Walgreens Boots Alliance announced a strategic partnership with Adobe and Microsoft. The technology partners would play an important role as Walgreens and Boots (UK) worked to enhance shopping and wellness experiences, while driving a mass personalization effort. In the U.S., that meant activating a loyalty program with over 100 million members. The partnership with Adobe Experience Cloud brought a set of tools that produced deeper customer insights, while delivering more relevant customer experiences that were integrated across channels like the website, mobile app, and in-person retail. In the months since the partnership was unveiled, Walgreens Boots Alliance has made great progress, demonstrating what it means to drive meaningful digital transformation on the behalf of customers. Most recently, Walgreens in the U.S. launched an online portal for Covid-19 vaccines
3 marketing predictions for a cookieless world by Asa Whillock Abstract Third-party cookies are on the chopping block, bringing with it several implications for the marketing industry and digital experience as a whole. But first, let’s talk about what cookies are, and why organizations such as Apple, Google and Mozilla are doing away with them. Cookies first got a bad rap when third-party cookies — those used by a domain and usually a company not associated with a particular site that is being browsed — started to track user behavior across websites. This was incredibly useful for measuring the impact of an “impression.” But for many consumers it felt intrusive when the item that they looked at online began following them across the web. Globally, eMarketer estimates that about 82 percent of web ads rely on cookies and over 77 percent of websites globally have at least one or more tracking cookies. But the truth is that third-party cookies were never all that great at driving accura
Adobe Digital Economy Index: UK online spending surges to £28 billion in the first three months of 2021 by Adobe Communications Team Abstract The reopening of non-essential retail and hospitality in the UK on the 12th April marked a significant step forward for two of the UK’s hardest hit sectors: hospitality and retail. As consumers return to shops, bars and restaurants, the Adobe Digital Economy Index reveals the extent to which the UK has become a nation of online shoppers and how consumers expect the digital shopping habits formed over the past 12 months, to change now that consumers have the option of setting foot in physical shops again. The findings point to Brits being increasingly purposeful online shoppers – visiting more ecommerce sites, transacting more often and spending more in the first three months of the year than ever before. The significant growth and momentum in online shopping, combined with continued caution around the return to physical stores reaffirms the di
How Bridgestone re-aligned its digital marketing with Adobe Experience Cloud by Michael Klein Abstract Bridgestone may be the world’s largest tire and rubber company, but for Bridgestone Americas VP of digital marketing, Jeffrey Lack, that’s only the tip of the iceberg. The company is now doubling down on its digital customer experience and product innovation, establishing itself as a fully integrated, sustainable mobility solutions provider. “If a truck in your fleet goes down because of a flat tire, that’s time and money lost. As a consumer driver, tires are the only part of a vehicle that connects with the road,” Lack says. “The technology in our products is critical to the navigation and safe operations of vehicles everywhere, and my team’s goal is to match the quality of our products with an equally advanced customer experience.” Bridgestone’s marketing team began its digital transformation in 2013, working with Adobe to align its technology stack across 11 lines of business. Adobe Digital Economy Index: Flight bookings pick up, e-commerce surges in the U.S. and globally by Taylor Schreiner Abstract When 100 million vaccines were administered in the Unites States and a round of stimulus checks were delivered, Americans’ online spending habits began to shift once again. That’s the key takeaway of the latest Adobe Digital Economy Index, which examines the impact on travel and e-commerce trends. The report measures transactions of seven of the top 10 U.S. airlines, eight of the top 10 U.S. hotels, and 1 trillion visits to retail sites, including more than 100 million SKUs in 18 product categories. For the first time, Adobe is also providing a global view of e-commerce based on direct transaction data in over 80 countries across 3 regions (Americas, APAC, EMEA) — more than any other technology company or research firm. The findings paint a picture of growing consumer confidence and interest in travel, as more Americans get vaccinated. At the same time, it ce
FedEx is the engine of e-commerce during COVID-19 by Giselle Abramovich Abstract Shipping and delivery are key parts of every online shopper’s buying journey. At the heart, sits FedEx Corp., the “engine of e-commerce” at a time when the majority of shopping is done online. “We sit at the intersection of physical and digital,” says Brie Carere, EVP and chief marketing and communications officer of FedEx. “We actually have to physically move those packages, and we have the power of the data behind them, so that we’re connecting warehouses, fulfillment and upstream manufacturers, all the way through to the consumer.” Impact of COVID-19 pandemic According to Carere, there has been an incredible surge in online shopping since the COVID-19 pandemic first spread throughout the United States in March 2020. Data from Adobe’s Digital Economy Index proves this point: COVID-19 gave eCommerce an extra boost of $183 billion. To keep up, FedEx had to expand its capacity and facilities in just a m
Adobe announces new AI capabilities to help businesses gain insights, transform data into digital experiences by John Bates Abstract The relationship between consumers and brands is evolving. Consumers today are more privacy-aware and attentive to the data they share, but also want to connect to brands in a way that feels personalized, relevant, and easy. As the world slowly starts to open back up after the COVID-19 pandemic, brands want to connect the data from consumers’ new digital behaviors with their offline actions to have a full view into the customer journey and deliver compelling experiences to each customer. That’s why today, at Adobe Summit, we are announcing Adobe Customer Journey Analytics, a new enterprise application in Adobe Experience Cloud. Built on Adobe Experience Platform, Adobe Customer Journey Analytics enables brands to connect omnichannel data into a unified view, easily visualize and analyze complete customer journeys, and access real-time analytics dashboar
Adobe announces new solutions to improve ecommerce experience for Adobe Commerce by Jason Woosley Abstract COVID-19 was one of the defining moments of 2020, and its impact on how we connect, work, shop and entertain ourselves still reverberates today. One of the most profound shifts we’ve seen during the global pandemic is the significant and almost immediate acceleration in ecommerce. According to Adobe’s Digital Economy Index, the pandemic gave ecommerce an extra $183 billion boost in the U.S. within the last year, as consumers flocked online to meet their daily needs and mitigate the spread of the virus. And, as significant as the changes were on the consumer side, the shift to digital among companies serving business buyers was even more dramatic. According to a McKinsey report, 85 percent of business-to-business (B2B) companies shifted their models to include digital commerce in 2020. In today’s digital economy, the idea that brands must better understand their customers’ path t

** As announced in the Release Notes, these fields are slated to be deprecated. Read more here. ** Today I wanted to provide some clarity around a few of Marketo Measure's fields that live on the Lead and Contact to explain how they are similar and different to the fields that live on the Touchpoint Objects. I get a lot of questions about this so I’m hoping this is helpful! Below we have a quick screenshot taken from MM's taxonomy (to view the entire diagram, click here). We want to first focus on the two MM Custom Objects, the Buyer Touchpoint (BT) and the Buyer Attribution Touchpoint (BAT). I’ve outlined the same field on both of these objects – Marketing Channel. If you need a refresher on the difference between BT & BAT, here is the knowledge article. Back to Marketing Channel as a field though, we’re all hopefully familiar with this field from onboarding and using Marketo Measure in general, but this field just tells us what Channel is
