We're back with another Ask Me Anything (AMA)! Hop into this session on Tuesday, June 10th, 2025, from 9 AM - 10 AM PDT, where we'll be opening up the floor to any questions you might have about acquiring an Adobe Workfront Certification!
In this AMA, we'll have our Adobe certifications manager Nick H. (@Nick_Hilton) joined by our Community Advisors Skye H. (@skyehansen) and Kurt J. (@Kurt_Jones) to discuss best practices and strategies for acquiring a certification from the lenses of an Adobe Employee and customer. Keep in mind this is a text-only event, there is no link/video to join! Just post your question as a reply to the thread and it will be answered during the 1-hour “event."
A certification is a credential that recognizes an individual’s skill and competency in an Adobe application. A candidate who passes the certification exam becomes an Adobe Certified Professional, Expert, or Master. Certifications require commitment, are legally defensible, and validation from Adobe of your expertise.
Individual benefits may include career advancement, boosting job performance, proving your skills, gaining client trust, and increasing earning potential.
When you receive an Adobe certification, you can download a digital badge to share on your social media accounts.
Not sure what questions to ask? Check out some of the sample questions below (and feel free to ask them during the AMA!):
Please note that this text-only AMA takes place as a discussion post on the Workfront Community. If you are unable to make this live event, you can always publish your question in the thread now! During the event, please be sure to REFRESH the page frequently so you don't miss responses from our PMs or new questions/comments.
To ask our experts a question:
**All AMAs are TEXT-ONLY, meaning there is no webinar, video call, or recording. All questions and answers will occur on this thread.
Hello, I need to renew my certifications in the coming months. Is the renewal exam a full test like the standard one, or is it a mini test?
Manish,
Go to the Certification Portal link above. You'll see that certs expiring this year have been extended. You'll also see a Renew button. If you click it you'll see the renew process is still under development and hasnt been broadly communicated as to what we need to do yet...stay tuned.
Hello,
Most other certifications I hold do not expire or get renewed via continuous development activities. Do you think this last could be an option for the Workfront certifications? A way in which the certified person stays up to date with the information needed.
Thanks!
MJ
Maria,
Join the session noted above to learn more about the certification process, including how renewals will work with the upcoming changes. I do believe continuing education may be a part of the renewal structure in the future.
Hi Maria,
Our new renewal program will be launching shortly. Certifications will be able to be renewed for free by taking two short renewal modules (about 15 minutes each) and passing a knowledge check for each module. This new renewal method keeps your knowledge up-to-date!
Hello
Would Adobe remind us when the certifications are about to expire?
Thanks,
MJ
Hi Maria,
Yes, as long as your email address is up-to-date in your Adobe Certification Portal profile, you will receive a reminder 90 days before your certification expires alerting you that you can start the process.
Is there a practice test or a pre-test so we can see how ready we are before we commit to it?
ElizaBarryGuild -
Yes, there are practice tests available to try as much as you want. They breakdown the scoring in sections to allows you to understand areas that you may need to improve on. You can find these tests by clicking the Certification Portal link above in Resources section, then going to Certification Home on that page and filtering by Workfront as the product. You can click into the Learn More button on any of the Workfront Certification tests listed and you'll see at the top Study for Exam tab where you can find these resources.
Hi @Kurt_Jones, @skyehansen, @jon_chen,
Thanks for hosting this AMA!
Is there any way to access a demo or sandbox environment of Adobe Workfront to practice hands-on before the certification exam?
And if not, are there recommended ways to get practical experience outside of a corporate license?
Thanks in advance!
Best,
Guéna
Yes,
Adobe provided a test instance for anyone to practice(valid for 3 months).
Request a practice environment by filling out this form (click here). If you’re unable to access the adobe form, send your name, email address, and company name to wfttstdr@adobe.com.
Thanks!
Hey there! Just wanted to add a little info on this one. I believe this link is part of the Fusion training resources, versus just a standalone ask for a Workfront Test Drive. Typically, users can only access these test drives on an "as needed" basis if they pay for the training sessions. Other than via the paid training sessions, we're not aware of a way to obtain a test drive. (If you are a current customer, you might be able to reach out to your Account Manager to see what options are available.) For more information on those paid training opportunities, check out this link: https://learning.adobe.com/learn-by-product/workfront.html

Hello,
I'm interested in pursuing an AEM certification and would like guidance on the best certification path for someone with a background in Workfront Fusion development. Which certification would be the most relevant and valuable for my role?
Thanks,
Cristina
Hi Cristina,
I'll work with the AEM team to determine a good recommendation for you looking into an AEM development certification.
Thanks,
Nick
Hi Cristina,
Since you've worked with Workfront Fusion, the best AEM certification to start with is the Adobe Certified Professional – AEM Developer. It would be a good match for you skills and it would you learn the basics of AEM. Later, you could go for the Expert or Master level as you gain more experience in AEM.
Hi there! What discounts or complimentary certifications tests are available, criteria to get the discount, and what times of the year? For example, I believe at Adobe Summit in-person you can take the tests for free (tell me if I'm wrong). Thanks!
Hi Julie,
The Certification Program typically runs an annual end-of-year promotion, as well as ad hoc promotions from time to time. If you are eligible from a promotion that we offer, you will receive an email from the team. Please make sure your email is up to date in your profile.
You are correct, at Adobe Summit you can take free certification exams for free, as long as you attend in person–Spread the word!
Do we know the dates for Adobe Summit 2026?
Yes! Save the date for April 19-22, 2026 in Vegas - you can sign up for the mailing list for updates!
Here are the dates for the 2026 Adobe Summit. I feel like we should start seeing updates with more information to the page in late summer/early fall!
Adobe Summit 2026 will take place in Las Vegas, April 19–22. Be sure to sign up for the mailing list for updates.
If Adobe offers this again at the 2026 Summit, I highly recommend taking one or more exams while at Summit. I was not planning on taking an exam at Summit this year but a few others talked me into it and I was able to get in and out in an hour and passed. Such a great offering to take advantage of!
Hi,
The practice exams are much easier than the actual exams. Would you ever consider changing that so we can modify our studying approach?
Great session topic and I appreciate the opportunity to provide feedback!
- JM
The practice exam is a VERY general example of some of the types of questions that might be asked in the certification (and the way they might be asked) BUT not necessarily indicative of all areas. So think of it as more a way for you to get used to the rhythm of the exam. More useful would be reading through the "exam prep guides" which are available under the "Study for exam" tabs of most certifications -- this would help you discover where in the documentation that the majority of the questions might be coming from.
If its only meant as a generalization then that should be clearly stated in the practice test links and information that it is not representative of the actual questions.
I'm sorry if I misspoke in some way? The practice test questions are representative of actual questions in that they ask some of the same things in similar ways. They are not representative in terms of being exact duplicates. Additionally since the actual certification is much longer, I don't believe they are representative of ALL the questions.
I agree with this, and its a big deal for testers and shouldn't be taken lightly. I have multiple certs from Microsoft, CompTIA, and other vendors, and their practice exams are more aligned with the actual experience.
I realize there is a lot happening with the certification 'system' and Adobe has many improvements coming down the pipe. That is fantastic, and I and many others appreciate it. However, It doesn't do anyone any good to fail these cert tests because the practice exams are erroneously indicating they have enough training/knowledge when they actually don't.
At the end of the day, that's really a shot in the foot for Adobe, more than the testers.
LauraCr,
The exams and guides provide a solid framework of areas that will likely be tested in the exams, but a key point from my experience is making sure you have some extensive hands-on experience within the environments (Workfront or Fusion) before moving to certifications. As the exams progress in difficulty the hands-on experience becomes a critical component.
Hi,
Would Adobe ever consider discounting the rate of the exams if someone is taking them more than once, if they did not pass it the first time?
Thank you!
- JM
We are considering offering a retake discount for those who did not pass their first attempt. While we are exploring this option, please keep on eye on the Adobe Certification Portal to make sure you don't miss any promotions that we post. It's also a good idea to make sure your profile is up-to-date so that you receive any promo emails that contain discounts.
Awesome! Thank you so much for this information!
Will the live event take place in this thread?
Hey everyone, our experts are now available in the chat to answer any preceding and live questions about Workfront Certifications! Be sure to refresh the page to view the latest responses and questions.
Hello, wanted ask about recommended practices I should take as I prepare myself to take the exam.

Most useful would be reading through the "exam prep guides" which are available under the "Study for exam" tabs of most certifications -- this would help you discover where in the documentation that the majority of the questions might be coming from.
What is the best way to prepare for the exam? Should I start by taking a practice exam and focus my study on areas that I did not perform well on?

Hi - a few questions about Fusion certs:
1. The available non-paid, online training for Fusion is... lacking. Is there any plan to improve on that? Not all companies will pay for certs and the $3K price tag of the instructor led sessions is high.
2. Is a Fusion space an option for the test spaces you are offering to prep for exams? If not, when will it be?
Hi, having taken both trainings several times (the non paid and the instructor-led), I can confirm they are pretty similar to each other with more handholding on the instructor-led side.
Instructors for the sessions are pretty adamant as well, that taking their course will not (in and of itself) enable you to pass the Fusion cert.
If you are struggling with the non paid training, I can recommend you post questions in the Fusion community to get the answer. However, Fusion more than any of the others, does rely on your practice in a Fusion environment. Reading the exam prep guide will also be a huge help.
Hey there! I can address the second question. The only way that I have heard about users gaining temporary access to Fusion environments was through the paid instructor-led trainings. [Updated - just got confirmation that the Fusion Test Drives are not included in the instructor-led trainings so you will have to have have your own access to Fusion to practice for your exam.] I would check out those sessions to verify what access would be needed to complete the Fusion course. Here's the link to the courses:
https://learning.adobe.com/learn-by-product/workfront.html
The only other potential option would be to reach out to your Account Manager and see if they have the ability to request a Fusion Test Drive, but they will have to confirm what resources they have available for customers looking to purchase Fusion.
A course in the Certification course catalog for Workfront Fusion would be helpful. I agree that there are videos/tutorials available for Workfront Fusion in the experience league. But, I feel a course in the catalog would make the learning process easy for beginners/intermediates.
Thanks!
Thank you for the feedback! I'll pass this on to the course development team.
By when can we expect the Expert/Master level courses available in the portal. It says Coming soon, any tentative launch date you can tell us?
Hi there! We currently have a couple expert-level courses, but nothing currently related to Workfront. We are working on a expert level roadmap, but don't have a timeline at the moment.
It might be too early to know, but is there any word if the certifications be offered again at Adobe Summit next year?
Hi Jared,
Yes, free certification exams should be offered again at Adobe Summit next year. We have not gotten official confirmation on this, but that is the plan. You will see announcements for this a couple months prior to Adobe Summit for official confirmation.
Thanks,
It's been a couple of years since I've taken these tests. I recall getting a little flustered when I realized 5 minutes prior that I had to clear everything from my desk. Could you please give us any insights into how best to prepare our enviornment before the test?
Amazing question, Monique! Some of the proctors have different rules as well.
Hi Monique, I dug the answer out of my emails. Definitely not easy to find. The email when you schedule an exam, takes you here:
https://certification.adobe.com/certifications/learn-more?tab=learnmore6
Open the section for "Preparing for exam day"
Scroll down to the link at the bottom of this section, "What to expect on exam day" and watch the recording
https://support.proctoru.com/hc/en-us/articles/9951434736525-What-to-Expect-on-Exam-Day
I think I basically clicked on all the links as well, so what I know is probably a combination of everything leading off this page.
As a side note, much of the issues with proctored exam can be avoided if you take your certifications during Adobe Summit
That video is hugely helpful @skyehansen - it covers a lot of what I would've mentioned)! For example, I didn't know about not wearing a watch - the proctor missed it initially and interrupted me mid-test to ask me to take it off and set it far away (speaking of getting flustered!).
@MoniqueEvans I will also say, it eased some stress to be hard-wired to my internet vs. on my WiFi (if that's an option you have with your computer). I tried to take my exam in a different room than I usually work and the WiFi in there dropped a few times before I started the exam - I ended up running a hardwire across the house. It's not a requirement, but definitely a tip from my experience!
To riff off Leslie's and Kurt's response -- I had a struggle accessing the test on my company-provided laptop, and had to last-minute switch over to my personal laptop which was not set up for anything remotely work related. So that was a huge stressor. For some reason, the way the exams were provided in Summit was different, and my work computer ended up working to take the cert, so this was another plus for Summit exams.
Thanks everybody!! These are most helpful tips and I'll be sure to put a post-it on my monitor reminding me about my watch. I can't imagine how you felt @LeslieSpier!
How can I assess my readiness to take the exam? Are some questions weighted more heavily than others?
hi Lori, all questions are worth 1 point.
My training instructors have always started out each course (whether for fusion, PM, or admin courses) warning their students that purely taking the course or purely reading through the documentation is probably not going to enable you to pass the certification exam -- there is a component of real world experience. I believe the current rule of thumb for professional certs is 0-12 months, and for expert is 1-3 years. In terms of assessing your readiness, I would recommend you take the practice exam at speed. Keep in mind that the actual exam is timed, and if you can't confidently answer the requisite number of questions in the time allocated, then you're not ready.
I found the exam prep guides for many of the certifications to be fairly useful in that if I read through all the links and already are familiar with and understand the material, I am probably ready, whereas if this is the first time I'm seeing this material, I probably need to walk away with it and practice to gain familiarity before scheduling the exam. Hope this helps!
This AMA is now over! Thanks so much for attending, asking such insightful questions, and providing feedback for our certifications team. Please stay tuned on the Workfront Community for future AMA events, and feel free to let me know directly if you have any suggestions for future topics.
