Introduction

Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) offers a robust suite of tools for orchestrating personalized customer experiences, including built-in email design capabilities. However, integrating Knak with AJO presents organizations with additional opportunities to streamline content creation, enhance brand governance, and optimize collaboration across teams.

This blog explores the advantages of Knak-AJO integration, the key steps involved, and best practices for overcoming common challenges.

Before Jumping to Knak and AJO Integration, Let’s Understand What Knak Is?

Knak is a no-code email and landing page creation platform designed to help marketers build and deploy on-brand, scalable content without requiring technical expertise. It offers an intuitive drag-and-drop editor that ensures brand consistency while integrating seamlessly with various marketing automation tools, including AJO.

Now let’s explore why integrating it with AJO can further optimize email marketing workflows.

Why Consider Integrating Knak with AJO?

While AJO provides out-of-the-box (OOTB) drag-and-drop email creation features, organizations may find Knak beneficial in the following areas:

  1. Strengthening Brand Consistency
  •  Knak enables businesses to enforce brand guidelines (fonts, colors, layouts) across all email communications, reducing manual oversight.
  • This ensures alignment with corporate identity standards, particularly for enterprises operating at scale.
  1. Streamlining Approval Processes
  • AJO does not include built-in approval workflows for email content.
  • Knak facilitates a structured review process with collaboration, approvals, and commenting features, allowing marketing, legal, and design teams to work efficiently before final deployment in AJO.
  1. Supporting Scalability and Cross-Platform Efficiency
  •  Enterprises often leverage multiple marketing automation platforms (B2C, B2B )
  •  Knak’s flexible template creation and management capabilities help streamline email content across different tools, enhancing operational efficiency.

When to Use AJO vs. When to Leverage Knak?

       When to Use AJO Alone:

  • You need a simplified email creation process with built-in drag-and-drop design tools.
  • Your focus is on automating customer journeys rather than complex email approval workflows.

When to Use Knak + AJO Together:

  • Your organization requires consistent branding across all email communications.
  • You need structured approval workflows involving marketing, legal, and design teams.
  • Your enterprise leverages multiple marketing automation platforms and needs a centralized email creation solution.

Key Steps to Integrate Knak with AJO

Step 1: Configuring the Integration

Before syncing templates, organizations must set up Adobe Developer Console access and configure the relevant APIs:

  •              API Setup: Add the AJO API and Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) API to the project.
  •              Authentication: Configure OAuth Server-to-Server authentication.
  •              Product Profiles: Assign appropriate product access profiles.
  •              Credentials: Generate the Access Token, Client ID, Client Secret, and Organization ID.
  •              AJO Organization Name: Extract the name from the AJO URL (sname) for proper integration.

Step 2: Syncing Knak Templates to AJO

  1. Develop and Finalize Email Templates in Knak

Leverage Knak’s intuitive drag-and-drop editor to create email content.

Addressing Common Challenges in Knak and AJO Integration

While the integration process between Knak and Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) is designed for efficiency, organizations may encounter issues during setup or post-integration sync failures. Below are some common challenges and recommended resolutions:

  1. Integration Failure

This issue primarily arises due to access permissions in AEP/AJO. It is recommended to validate the API using Postman to ensure API responses are received without access errors.

Challenge: Attempting to retrieve an Access Token API (https://ims-na1.adobelogin.com/ims/token/v2) results in a 403 error.

Resolution: Ensure the API key from the Adobe Developer Console project is correctly mapped to the appropriate AEP role under permissions to grant the necessary access.

  1. Sync Failures Post-Integration

Behind the scenes, Knak calls the AJO Content Template API to create templates in AJO. If the sync fails, it is essential to validate the API response via postman  to ensure there are no access issues.

Challenge: 403 Error when accessing the Create Template API (https://platform.adobe.io/ajo/content/templates )

Resolution: Ensure that API credentials are added to the Content Library Manager Role under AEP permissions to grant access.

By proactively validating API responses and ensuring correct role permissions, organizations can successfully integrate Knak with AJO and streamline their email marketing workflows.

Conclusion

Integrating Knak with Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) provides organizations with enhanced workflow efficiencies, improved brand governance, and greater scalability in email marketing operations. By streamlining content creation and approval processes, marketing teams can accelerate execution while maintaining consistency and compliance.

By following best practices in configuration and troubleshooting, organizations can unlock the full potential of Knak and AJO’s combined capabilities for a seamless, omnichannel customer engagement strategy.

@Anuhya-Y  Thanks for sharing the detailed integration.

Were there any challenges being the authentication token expiration to renew the new token?

@KotiSyamala Configuring AJO in Knak is a one-time activity listed under the section  'Step 1: Configuring the Integration.' This setup helps generation of the latest access token as needed.
