Hello,
I have PDF template which has 4-5 pages that consist of static text and lots of form controls like TextBox, Dropdown, Radio button etc created using Adobe LiveCycle. I am trying to edit and modify the static text but unable to do so. I am also not able edit it in Adobe Acrobat as it was created in LiveCycle Designer. Please note I can overlap the static text with textbox and then set it at runtime from C# code which uses the template to create the PDF but I am looking editing the text directly in the PDF template itself as ti is static text. Please suggest as soon as possible as I am stuck since 1 week now.
Thanks,
BM

Hi, Like Radzmar says, if those labels (Name, Address or City) have come from a PDF or Word document you have imported into LiveCycle Designer then you will need to change them in whatever produced the PDF or Word document. If you have created the form from scratch in LiveCycle Designer then you should be able to update the fields. If not have a look at the options in the menu under Edit ... Lock and make sure nothing is set.
Try the forum for LiveCycle Designer.

Sounds like you've imported an existing PDF in LiveCycle and places a few form fields over it, right?! In that case the PDF is used as a kind of background image and cannot be changed in any way.

Yes you are right. I dont the whole history of who and how it was created as I joined the team 6 months back. I have existing PDF file which I used to place form fields elements. Now I am trying to update the static base text but no options. When I try to edit using Adobe it does not even allow anything and says it was created using LiveCycle and so needs to edited with it only. When I use LiveCycle, I cannot edit anything except add remove existing or new form fields.
Do you mean to say that if the PDF was created from scratch using LiveCycle then we could edit it without issues ?
Do you mean since the PDF was created using Adobe Writer and then was used by Adobe LiveCycle Designer to add new fields we cannot now edit the static text at all as it is now mere image?
Thanks,
Birendra

Well, with Designer you can create different types of forms, dynamic and static and this either from scratch or based on an existing PDF or Word document. In dynamic forms you can edit every element but in static forms you get the current layout as an uneditable background artwork and can place elements over it. The latter shouldn't be used when the layout could change from time to time.
Thanks for your reply and insight. Can we not maintain/update the PDF which has mix of both static and dynamic ? Like for example consider simple name=value pairs form. for eg: Name: NameTextbox, Address: AddressTextBox, City: CityTextBox.
Now I am able to change or remove the right hand side control - textbox like change dimensions font etc. But can we not change the static text which is on left side for Name or Address or City in above example ?
Thanks,
BM

Try Foxit Phantompdf, it can edit PDFs quite easily.
