Does this mean my host OS needs to be 64bit? Or can I run VMWare on a 32 bit host with a 64bit image? Has anyone tried VMWare Workstation on 2003 64bit or 2008 64bit?

The host OS can be either 32bit or 63bit.
It is the HARDWARE that must be 64bit compatible.

Hello,
for more info about this subject you can read:
http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1901
http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-8978
Fusion 2.0.5 on a Mac runs the image with no other effort beyond updating the VMWare tools once the guest OS is up and running
Currently in Milan we're only fixing the BIOS of our hardware running VMWare ESX so that the image can be uploaded there as well.
HTH.
Best regards,
Giovanni

One update about VMWare ESX. In Milan we've enabled VT on our Intel Xeon E5345 and I'm currently uploading/converting the image to run it on ESX.
I'll let you know the performance when it's ready.

This topic is not a question, rather tips and tricks so I'm going to mark as assumed answered.
