Adding a Merge Profiles function

Hi there,

Our team was surprised to find that there was not a merge profiles function on the tool. This was a feature of Campaign Classic, however we found that there are many data issues as a result of not having that function.

We have thousands of duplicate profiles on our org's instance of ACS. The unique identifier was not set as the email originally and now we have the issue of users unsubscribing and still being on the email communications because they have several profiles under the same email address in our system.

I had heard rumors that this was going to be an addition to one of the updates, but I have yet to see any official statements on that function. I would think this is a basic need across all organizations.

Please let me know if there is any development on this!

Thanks,

- Mike

I was trying to explore the merge profiles function of ACC. Is there any online link available describing that feature? It will be helpful if you can share.

Regarding Unsubscription, aren't your profiles tied to a Service in ACS? when someone unsubscribes shouldn't the profile unsubscribe from that service rather than the email address?

If email is the unique identifier for a profile in your organization, then in my opinion you should have 1 profile mapped to an unique email but subscribed to different Services. In that case when someone unsubscribes the profile will be unsubscribed from that specific service.

I agree ACS seem to be lacking in this regard. Regardless if you are using subscriptions or not, you need to be able to be able to merge broad/trackingLogs and other data, which can't be done in ACS as I understand.

I don't think there's any OOTB functionality to merge profiles in ACC, but you could easily set it up if you wish.

Sorry, I don't have first-hand knowledge that it was a function on ACC. I had heard that it was a feature.

Yes, a profile, which is made of an email and other data, unsubscribes from service. Currently, our instance of ACS has duplicate profiles under the same email. One or more of those may be subscribed to a specific service or not. This complicates manual unsubscribes and segmentation. Also, it requires us to use deduplication on all workflows.

At Adobe Summit 2018, me and two other colleagues connected with several members of the ACS product team and they mentioned that they would research and get back with our team about the addition of a merge function. We haven't heard back, unfortunately.

As I mentioned, I had heard rumors that this was going to be an addition to one of the updates, but having had several updates since then it seems like it is not a priority for the ACS Developers. It has had major implications for us and our data. It clutters our system, causes us more time on manual unsubscriptions, and causes loading speeds to slow down.

Please share any information if you happen to hear anything!

One of our clients has similar issues in their instance. Even if it wasn't a fully featured "merge" functionality, simply being able to access broad/trackinglogs for updates (as we can in classic) would allow us to set up/build the functionality ourselves.

Hello,

An OOTB merge feature is not something in our roadmap.

ACS as less ETL and data manipulation activities than ACC, and we will review which one could be integrated into the product.

For the moment, this is not an open initiative.

I met with Eric Perrin (ACS Product Manager @ Adobe) at this years Adobe Summit in the Customer Briefing center and he indicated that they were looking at bring the merging functionality from ACC to ACS. We really really need a solution to merge Profiles!

Any updates on this?? We have hundreds of thousands of duplicates and there doesn't see any way but manually handling them which is costing us WEEKS of work and frustration. We have normally over 1.5 million subscribers so this is a huge lift for us. Has anyone found a workaround?

I created a workflow in ACS that finds duplicate profiles and then move all the subscriptions to 1 of the profiles.  We had 50,000 profiles with multiple duplicates.  It took a couple of months, but we have consolidated all of the profiles.  I will in the future find all profiles(duplicates) that aren't tied to a service and remove them from ACS.
