Server-Side Optimization with the new Target Java SDK by Anshul Chauhan Abstract We are excited to announce the release of our entirely new Adobe Target Java SDK. Java, being one of the most utilized server-side programming languages, is highly leveraged by our customers. We want our customers to focus more on their business logic rather than the technicalities of integrating with our APIs. Below, we provide our server-side integration goals and best practices to optimize the performance of your Java applications when integrating with our Target Java SDK. What’s Target Java SDK? The Adobe Target Java SDK helps you execute a server-side integration on JVM based architectures using the Target Delivery API. It helps you retrieve and deliver personalized experiences in a highly performant manner. Furthermore, the Java SDK helps manage integrations with Adobe Experience Cloud solutions like the Experience Cloud Visitor ID and Adobe Analytics. There are certain goals that should always be
Part 1: Run Adobe Target NodeJS SDK for Experimentation and Personalization on Edge Platforms (Akamai Edge Workers) by Artur Ciocanu Abstract Adobe Target always provided best-in-class experimentation and personalization. Our edge network is geographically distributed and we have points of presence in different parts of the world. This allows us to be closer to our customers' users, but sometimes this is not enough since fundamentally Target always required a network call to retrieve personalized content. We always knew that this is could be problematic for some of our customers who are looking for near-zero latency for experimentation and personalization. In November 2020 Adobe Target launched NodeJS SDK and Java SDK with On-Device Decisioning capabilities. In a nutshell, On-Device Decisioning allows you to evaluate Target activities on-device avoiding a network roundtrip. For more details please check the official documentation here. SMS is a no-brainer channel for any Marketo marketer, whether you're B2C or B2B. According to Forbes, SMS has:98% open rateis x4 times more likely to be opened than an e-mailis read within 3 minutes of receipt (90%) In this 2-part article we cover every way you can use SMS as a channel in Marketo, from basic one-way SMS to hacking 2-way using forms to full enterprise-level SMS solutions.SMS BasicsFirstly, you'll need to understand some basic technical terminology: Carrier - this is your phone company (e.g. AT&T, Telstra)SMS Gateway - a paid service which does the actual sending of the SMS via a carrier (e.g. Twilio, Oxygen 8, Burst SMS)Marketo has no default SMS gateway, so you'll need to to find one and create an account for it. To help you, we'll recommend some compatible gateways later in this article. One Way SMS - OverviewOne-way SMS is supported out-of-the-box in Marketo using Webhooks.A webhooks is a simple way for Marketo to connect to an external system, in this case your S
In our previous article (part 1), we covered SMS basics and how to send SMS from Marketo using webhooks. We also briefly touched on several ways to do 2-way SMS in Marketo. In this article (part 2), we cover the first two methods on how to handle inbound SMS: the Marketo Form Hack & Custom Gateway integration.Marketo Form Hack - OverviewThis method is relatively easy to set-up and is good for handling low-volume 2-way SMS, where there isn't too much campaign complexity. You will need a free Zapier account. Zapier is a low-cost ($15/m), easy-to-use, on-line tool to connect apps.Zapier supports several SMS gateways out-of-the box and can also support most SMS gateways using it's 'Webhooks by Zapier' trigger.Limitations of the Marketo Form HackNot high volume - Cannot handle high-volume SMS scenarios (e.g. 100K in a few minutes)Not real-time - Zapier can only process inbound SMS every 5 minutes (at best, free edition is every 15 min)Technical knowledge needed - Zapier requires some tech
Twilio offers a pretty awesome Lookup API to enrich phone numbers with metadata: it can distinguish mobile and landline numbers (Sales will thank you!), determine carrier (which has demographic significance, like it or not), and even do reverse Caller ID lookup. It's reasonably priced, and if anyone knows this stuff, it's Twilio. The weird thing is that even though the Lookup API is 100% webhook-compatible, their docs don't show it being called as a simple webhook request. They only show it in the context of Java, PHP, or other code. Anyway, here's what's needed to call it as a webhook. Lookup requests are authenticated using HTTP Basic Auth. Your Twilio Account SID is the username; your Account Token is the password. So you just need to create an HTTP Authorization header and then add it to the webhook definition in Marketo. (Marketo supports Basic Auth just fine, but it doesn't present you with distinct username and password boxes.) An Authoriza
Collaborating with Legal & Compliance Teams in Workfront For many customers, implementing multiple processes and managing system adoption for a single team in Workfront can be quite challenging, so including Legal and Compliance teams in the original rollout might take a little extra effort, but ultimately adds so much value in the long run. For customers in highly regulated fields, Legal and Compliance teams are required to review any external communications, but can also be responsible for directing any state and federal audits, along with research for potential lawsuits. Workfront provides a fantastic use case for these types of collaborative work! For the day-to-day, most Legal & Compliance teams don’t have time to dig into the detailed tasks of each project. They just need to know: What’s coming up (so they can prepare with time management and staffing)? What’s currently waiting for their approval? What did they previously review and did they approve or reject? Here are
Welcome back to the Marketo Success Series! In this series, we partner with Marketo Champions and Champion Alumni to fully explore how some of our most celebrated Marketo experts are using Marketo Engage to drive success. In this edition, we teamed up with Champion @jessica_kao3 to cover which reports to focus on for your programs, how to get the most value out of Marketo Engage reporting, her 5 common reporting best practices, and more! Reporting is embodied in everything you do as a marketer. All too often reporting happens as an afterthought instead of being part of what you do every day. As marketers, we can get caught up in the day-to-day execution of endless tradeshows and webinars, creating content, and executing. But only afterward when everything is done do we tend to think about reporting. What was the outcome of our marketing efforts? Do we do that marketing tactic again? By then it’s too late and that’s why I see so many marketers str

Adobe Summit 2021: Announcements & Impressions by TAD REEVES Abstract Adobe Summit 2021 is now a wrap! Last year’s Adobe Summit happened right at the start of lockdown, and so had to very rapidly do a pivot from a massive 20,000-person in-person conference to a first-ever virtual experience, an experience that left many of us wondering what Adobe could put together if given the time and space to do a virtual conference right. So, this year, production quality was vastly higher, with considerable effort put into a brand-new Summit site to stream all of the sessions live to 28,000+ people simultaneously. Video: Impressions of Adobe Summit 2021 & Our Favorite Bits I got together with a number of other Adobe Marketing Cloud cohorts for a quick run-down on our thoughts on Adobe Summit 2021, along with some of the top announcements that we each were all excited about. How to Add Personalization to Slick Carousel in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) by LEO RUIZ Abstract Intro Having to personalize the carousel component is a common request from clients, and typically it needs to support personalisation. This should be a simple request, but without understanding the intricacies of DOM triggers, you'll quickly get frustrated by errors when trying to preview the component. Read on, as we uncover the core issue and demonstrate how to solve it. Aw, Snap! Throughout my extensive experience as a Front-End Developer, I've found myself on more than one occasion having to create an AEM component that contains a carousel, that should also supports personalization. It seems like a rather simple task on the surface - but there is one big problem. After personalizing the carousel component, clicking ‘View as Published’ would immediately collapse the entire site and throw up an ‘aw snap’ error. Not great! Introducing the AEM Dispatcher Optimizer Tool by Bruce Lefebvre Abstract What defines an “optimal” Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Dispatcher configuration? And if there really is such a thing, why not just print it here in place of this post? Better yet, prevent anyone from actually configuring the Dispatcher at all, and only support the optimal configuration! Unfortunately, it’s not quite that simple. While the exact property values, number of farms and vhosts, and contents of the /filter set will vary between each AEM implementation, there does exist a common set of goals which all optimal Dispatcher setups seek to achieve. At a high level, an optimal configuration will: 1. Maximize the cache hit ratio of the public facing site 2. Reduce the impact of unexpected or malicious requests 3. Limit the effect of activations on the contents of the cache At Adobe, we’ve been working on a tool to help you optimize your use of the Dispatcher in pursuit of these 3 goals. In this post I’ll be
Hi, I have two questions which are related to the usage of the "uber-jar" in an IDE like Eclipse: Question 1) Why the file "uber-jar-6.5.5-sources.jar" does not contain at least the source code of the open source libraries which are included in the uber-jar? Why it is either empty or not provided by Adobe at all? For example, why it does not contain the source code of "org.apache.jackrabbit.api.security.user.UserManager"? At least the file "uber-jar-6.5.5-javadoc.jar" contains the Javadoc of the above-mentioned class, but why the file "uber-jar-6.5.5-sources.jar" does not contain its source code? It is an open source project and you can see links to its source repository here: https://jackrabbit.apache.org/jcr/source-repository.htmlTherefore I do not understand why Adobe did not include it (and the source code of other open source libraries) in the file "uber-jar-6.5.5-sources.jar". In case if Adobe does not provide the "sources" file

Basic configuration for Data Views in Customer Journey Analytics by Adobe Docs Abstract Video: https://images-tv.adobe.com/mpcv3/2382/87a47bde-4767-4bcb-be72-7e320c1bb88d_1618959297.1920x1080at3000_h264.mp4 Once you have created a Connection in Customer Journey Analytics to datasets in the Adobe Experience Platform, you need to create a Data View for that Connection, so that you can use the data in Analysis Workspace on Platform. This video walks you through the basic configuration of a Data View. Creating a data view involves either creating metrics and dimensions from schema elements or utilizing standard components. Creating metrics or dimensions gives you an enormous amount of flexibility. Previously, the assumption was that if you had datasets in Adobe Experience Platform, string fields were used as dimensions and numeric fields were used as metrics. In order to change any of these fields, you had to edit your schema in Platform. The data views UI now allows a more freeform def
