Requests into Task Templates

Avatar

Hi, when an user submits a request, as far as my understanding goes, Workfront can only create an issue or task from that request.

Can Workfront accomplish the two below?

  1. Can WF create a Project from a Template from that request?
  2. Can WF attach a Task Template to an existing Project?

Yes to both. You can convert a request to a project using a template, or if a project already exists you can attach any number of tasks to it via attaching another template to the project.

Thanks for the response, @skyehansen. How about attaching a task template to an existing project from a request submission?

The reason behind this is the team is trained on submitting a request. Attaching a template would require a training session which includes finding the task template to attach, how to attach them, etc.

Hello stan255,

I am quite sure, that this will not be possible without using Fusion or a "manual scripting way" using the Event Subscription API.

Would that be an option for your?

Hey @lgaertner. I think those options are a bit too advanced for this. Haven't dived into Fusion yet so can't comment.

Maybe it might be easier just to train the team up to manually add task templates to their existing projects.
