Hi - great topic to discuss… First, I need to know what constitutes “ignoring tasks”. Ignoring implies they know they should be working on it and aren’t. What they can say (whether it is the truth or not) is that they didn’t know they were assigned the work. What I would do to remove all plausible deniability and schedule a report that tells them all of the tasks they are assigned to that are active where the planned start date is in the past. That way, they’ve got the My Work list of work and a weekly email that outlines exactly what has been assigned to them. NOW if they aren’t working on a task, it was a conscious decision not to work on it. Flipping the status of a task to “In progress” means nothing. Most people here don’t change the status at all. I prefer to think that if they haven’t charged time to a task, they aren’t working on it - or they are working on it and dumping their time elsewhere. Either way, it’s worth a conversation. I have a report of tasks that should have started a week ago, is assigned to a person (not assigned to only a role) and there is no time charged to it. That tells me that if they were working on it around the time it should have started, and didn’t charge time to it, they must not be working on it. That is part of our quality dashboard project managers use to prioritize things to speak with the project team about. Does this help at all? Thanks, Eric
