Re: Resource planning tools & roles - Workfront 07-06-2018
Hi: There is a utilization report that can be viewed for each project. It looks something like this: We don't use budgeted hours, so those are always zero. You can open a role ( click the > next to the role name) and see the hours planned for each person assigned to that role on the project. Does that help? Thanks, Eric

Re: Calculated Expression - Difference Between Planned and Actual Hours (View) - Workfront 31-05-2018
Hi: I create a custom attribute on a form associated with every task. The formula is: ROUND((Actual Hours - Planned Hours)/60,2) That way, I don't have to do Text Mode code in reports every time I want to use it. Thanks, Eric

Re: Introduce Yourself! - Workfront 29-05-2018
Hi Caroline! Welcome to the Community. I don't happen to work anywhere near your building, but if I'm ever wandering the hallways there, I'll stop by and say hi. Expect greetings from total strangers now that we know where you work! Eric

Re: SSO Auto-Provision - Workfront 29-05-2018
Oh, I'm looking forward to the responses on this one. If you search the community, you'll find it has been a topic of discussion in the past. I don't think anyone has asked how to transition to using it, however. Neat stuff! Eric

Re: New Calendar in Workfront Home - how about pre-planned work populating the calendar view? - Workfront 25-05-2018
Torches AND pitchforks. I've seen the movies, crowds with mere torches are ineffective and end up being turned back. What is the saying? Walk softly and carry a big pitchfork? Something like that. Anyway, you get the idea Lucas Eric MPM eric.lucas@crowley.com Crowley Information Technology

Re: Sharing Expense Report - Workfront 23-05-2018
What I do is schedule the report and email it to the people who need the data. They can't run the report within WorkFront, but they get a spreadsheet, for example with all the data in it. Would that work? Eric

Re: Excel vs Workfront - Workfront 17-05-2018
Project Costing systems/modules are normally part of a larger accounting package. I've never looked for a stand-alone project costing system. In the past, work management systems I've used had enough project costing features that we didn't need to buy a project costing module for our accounting system (except MS Project, cough cough). Re: Changing project owners and assigned tasks systematically - Workfront 16-05-2018
Hi: I created a report that shows all assignments on active projects and active tasks assigned to a specific person. Then, I select all, Edit, and Assignment. Then I change the assignment name from the old user to the new. That preserves the planned hours for that user. I tried to use the Swap-a-roo functionality, but it only shows me active projects, not projects that are in planning or in an inactive status. Does that help at all? Thanks, Eric

Re: Full Time Workfront System Admins - Workfront 16-05-2018
Hi: We have somewhere around 524 users, of which about half are work/plan users. We've been live for 4.5 years. I am the only SysAdmin and I'm definitely part time. I used to spend a lot of time working with the system, in the early years, making changes to the initial implementation configuration. Once that was down, my involvement is largely related to userIDs, creating reports for people, training, and testing new releases. Thanks, Eric

Re: Excel vs Workfront - Workfront 16-05-2018
Hi: As I read Jason's post (Thanks, Jason!), I am reminded of a discussion I had with Steve Zobell a few years ago on this very topic (before the Idea Exchange). In the discussion, I discussed elements of a Financial Project Costing system that would be advantageous to include in the product. It would simplify integration to a real Financial Project Costing system, and for those without a project costing system, it would add a lot of value. After discussing those project costing functional eleme...
