How to onboard Agile ways of working / sprints in a waterfall implementation?

Avatar

Hi all, I am hoping to seek advice to allow me to use Workfront similar to Jira:

  • Onboard a lite Agile ways of working
  • Create sprints & scrum boards
  • Start and close sprints
  • Prioritize backlog items

I know the current implementation at my work is on a waterfall approach, do you have any recommendations? Thanks.

YingLiu,

Workfront does provide a feature called Boards that provides a Kanban and scrum-type set up that can be used.  If you don't see the
Boards icon in your menu, connect with your sys admin to see if they can turn it on for you so you can play with it.  Here's a link to the Boards content in Experience League which has a few videos to show what Boards can do, https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/workfront/using/agile/boards-overview

I hope this helps some.

Thanks Kurt_Jones, appreciate sharing your thoughts. Yes I do have access to Boards.

It looks like it doesn't have the typical sprint kind of function like Jira.

e.g., I can't start a new sprint, and all outstanding tickets that weren't completed in the current sprint will be moved to a new Board automatically. (unless I create multiple Boards?)

Ying, you're correct, this was an item I surfaced last year to Adobe as a missed opportunity as your cards get stuck to the iteration its put in, if things change, as they often do, you cant move them to the next sprint.  However, our WF support group does use the Dynamic/Kanban template for our support requests and project requests which works pretty good for us to keep track and prioritize.
