We have project level queues that are set-up at the template level. We can add custom email notification to the template task's emails but I can't find a way to add issue notifications. We don't want to use the default automatic reminders and I'm trying to avoid the user having to add Reminder Notifications manually. Am I missing it or is it not possible?

Did you get any further with this? I am just starting to try and figure out how to do this for Issues and noticed the help article only gave Tasks as an example.
From what I understand you need to associate the email template to the object using HTML code in the body of the email text. The article refers to the API and using that to bring in the code - this is not something I have done before so also looking for assistance please!
