Approved with changes in Workfront (not Proof)

Is there a way to create an 'approved with changes' in Workfront approvals so that the approval doesn't get triggered again the second time someone completes the task? We're not using the proof workflows. Ex:

Creative marks done on the task --> task status complete - pending approval

Director rejects the task and provides changes and doesn't need to see it again --> task status in progress

Creative makes the changes and marks done --> task status complete

I'm trying to find a workaround that isn't giving our creative team permissions to remove the approval before they mark the task complete again.

Hi @Jcosta16 - The only option would be another task status (No Review Needed, Approved with Changes?) that equates to Complete that they could select instead of the Complete - Pending Approval.

The only challenge would then they wouldn't be able to use the typical 'mark done' feature and would always need to change the status, so a bit of a learning curve but not off the table. thank you!

Can you flip it 180 degrees? Give the director a task following Creative's task, e.g. Review Creative Work assigned to Director John Smith.

The director can review the work and complete their task which is set up with an approval process for the creative team to review John's remarks.

If the team needs John to review again, they can reject John's task, and this will send him back to re-review. If they're able to move forward without him, they can approve his task and everyone can move on with their lives.

Interesting idea, but the creatives more heavily rely on accurate due dates so the approval loop would probably throw them off a bit. Thank you, though!
