Agile, Scaled Agile

Can someone tell me if they are using Workfront in a SCALED Agile environment? We are having some back-and-forth discussions and can't seem to get a straight answer of whether Workfront can or can't do Scaled Agile. They're wanting to move to sticky notes on a dry-erase board (Kanban board). Please help me! Heather Theriault MetLife

It's kind of scaring me that no one has a reply to this (please save me from the dry erase board!). I know there's some Agile stuff coming in November, but will it allow us to do Scaled Agile (whether out-of-the-box or by modification by us Admins)? Heather Theriault MetLife

Hi Heather, I don't know about the others, but I'm not quite familiar with what "scaled" Agile is. Can you explain that a little further? Hi Heather, While I'm not a master of all the various Agile practices out there, I know that our current agile functionality was built around Scrum. I also know that we're introducing Kanban in 2017.3 (next week!!!). I've never heard of Scaled Agile though, care to explain what it means to you and your company? Scaled is somewhere in between Waterfall and Agile. Everything operates on a Release Train and is tracked (Lord help me) on a Kanban board. I did see where the Kanban was coming next week (YAY!), so I will continue to play with that. The way it was described was that Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is teams of teams managing backlogs and implementing in small iterations. I am trying to gather as much information as I can to present it to the powers-that-be to defend my position that we can still work within Workfront for the one Epic that we are operating through Scaled Agile. That actually sounds like Scrum, which Workfront does do. You create a large Backlog and prioritize them, then break them into small iterations (usually each Iteration is 2, 3 or 4 weeks depending on your needs) and deliver at the end of each Iteration. How does Scaled differ from Scrum and what specific issues are you having getting Workfront to work for you? Because you should be able to use if for this. We do. We actually use Scrum and Waterfall. Let me know and maybe we can help. We use SAFe but not in Workfront so I am not sure I can be much help. At the end of the day, if your scrum teams can norm on some basic things for consistent roll up and reporting, I am not sure why you wouldn't be able to. The only reason we do not is that out IT department is not on WF so we need to use a tool that is shared by both the business and IT. SARA ROTHKOPF Marriott International
