Resource/User Utilization Grid

Our small Design team works on multiple projects at a time and we need to be able to prioritize and utilize each of them in order to complete a project. We need a way to view a snapshot of the week what projects each user is working on and how much time they are allotted on any given day of that week. The time should be able to be editable, so we can move around hours or reassign if we need to re-prioritize a project.

The Resource Grid and the Capacity Planner were the closest to what we are looking for, but I understand that these features are no longer available and will be taken off in the future, and replaced with the Resource Planner and Scheduling tool.

Both the new Resource Planner and Scheduling tool do not work in the way that we need it to. Will there be something more in line with the Resource Grid and Capacity Planner in the future? I think there should be.

Along the same lines as above, I have a similar need. We use the legacy user utilization resource grid to review planned and projected capacity. We have filters for each team, which is helpful so see who on a team may be over/under capacity and how things can be moved around. We then drill down to the project and task level to see where task start dates can be pushed out, when needed. I'd like to know if this is a future enhancement on the roadmap, because I've yet to see something with the new resource tools that will work in a similar way.

Also agreed, I also need to see in the scheduling view, how many hours booked by task (I can view a total number of hours) but I need to see where the over utilisation is coming from by task. (The only way to do this is to click into the task details) - even if the number of planned hours displays in the details when you hover over the task, I can then look to see what tasks can move to allievate the over utilization and move to someone with capacity

Our need to be able to see how hours are allocated on a User basis is basically what drives which projects get worked on on a weekly basis.

The Resource Planner is organized by Project, then Role, then User. For us, it makes more sense to have a planner that is organized by User, then Project, then Task. If this could be something that comes into fruition quickly it would help us more away from having to use a separate Excel sheet to track these hours (which is what we are currently using right now).

Below is a rough mock-up of what type of grid/report we use:

I'd rather see the USER first, then the project so I can see the capacity sooner rather than all the click downs. We have multiple projects assigned to designers and need a quick view on capacity... not the "Role". Also, would be nice to export the view as an excel sheet.

Our team also uses and needs the legacy utilization resource grid to be able to see projected capacity. What is the exact replacement for the resource grid view?

Hi everyone,

Workload Balancer solution is the replacement for the Resource Scheduling tool and provides the described functionality. Learn more about it in the article here: Link
