Enable Update Feeds for Templates - Workfront 01-05-2019
I'd like to have a more auditable trace of changes to templates. We're currently writing release notes, but that's a bit manual. While we control access to templates and have changes go through a change control process, we can't systematically prevent another sys admin from enabling access they shouldn't and someone making a change to a live template. If there was more traceability from an audit log perspective, we could at least log the changes (which would make it easier to track down who did ...

Default Hour Type at the Project Level - Workfront 11-04-2019
Our project plans are primarily structured to distinguish internal from billable work, yet our staff work on both. Tracking which hours are billable vs. nonbillable is a critical company metric, but the current system design leads to a potential error by the user in classifying the wrong hours. Right now, you rely solely on the user to make the correct choice in their timesheet or task to indicate whether the work is billable or not. You can default that choice but only at the user level (so all...

Bulk "Clear" Multiple Value Fields - Workfront 26-03-2019
There is currently no way to "bulk clear" multiple entry fields at the Project Level. Here's the example use case we ran into where this was needed - we needed to update the Resource Managers on a large number of projects, but the projects were originally configured very close to the 30-person limit. Through bulk editing to project fields, you can only ADD things (you can't take anything away). When we attempted to bulk change the resource manager list, we hit the 30-person limit. As a result, w...

Auto-update Resource Pools - Workfront 22-03-2019
If you create a Resource Pool by adding a team, group, or company it DOES NOT update the membership if you add members later to said team/group/company. Aka, in order to keep your Resource Pool up to date, you'd need to manually "refresh" it by either adding the new users individually or (i guess) removing & re-adding the team/group/company. I believe this will lead to errors, as people who have to manage large resource pools won't realize that new users aren't contributing to it and must be man...

Re: Increase number of resource managers - Workfront 25-02-2019
In case this is helpful for other folks: I originally thought that visibility into the Resource Planner was limited only if you had a Plan license and you were listed as a Resource Manager at the project level (aka, you can only see the projects that specifically had you listed as a Resource Manager). This is true for the role view, but for the user view you can enable visibility by sharing projects with a team (as opposed to indicating the explicit user as a Resource Manager). We've created a R...

Re: Increase number of resource managers - Workfront 05-02-2019
Upvoted. Rather than increase the number of resource managers, I would also have a different way to configure this. Managing this at the user level by project is a bit of a nightmare for us - it leads to a lot of overhead when staff transition, as Resource Managers are often Team managers and resource management is handled at lots of different levels of our org. One potential option would be an access level that could be global or associated with your own configured groups or teams, so you can o...
