This is a great point. We're going to be making some changes to the
components panel, which might help, but either way I will follow up with
our UX design team to see if there is a better way to handle this.
Thanks for the feedback - keep it coming!
Hi Akiko, I am pretty sure this functionality is coming with our release
in September. If you don't see it by that time, please reply to this
thread and I'll ask our engineering team to take another look.
Hi Andy. We are planning on at least allowing import from Ad Hoc
Analysis. Export from Analysis Workspace to Ad Hoc Analysis is tougher
because over time there will be aspects of Analysis Workspace that are
not available in Ad Hoc Analysis (e.g. integration with Contribution
Analysis). We're not completely decided on that yet. But we will
definitely allow the Ad Hoc Analysis -> Analysis Workspace path.
I think I agree that this should be clearer. We definitely don't want to
do anything that prevents you from continuing to interact with a panel
while data is loading, but there are two ways to know:In the title bar
for a table, it should say "Retrieving data."A cell that is involved in
a running query should have a little yellow indicator in the upper-right
corner. Hopefully that will help for now while we look at ways to
This is not something we had planned, but it's worth discussing. I think
I saw you on the beta calls yesterday; let's talk about this there. (You
can use the Beta Feedback tool in the beta environment for things that
pertain the features only in the beta environment.)
Hi Antti, We've got a long backlog and roadmap for adding additional
tools (including funnels, pathing tools, etc.) to Analysis Workspace.
You can definitely expect these to be available over the coming months
and years. We are tentatively planning to add at least one tool to
Analysis Workspace in addition to Freeform Analysis later this year.
Thanks Eddie. Screen shot is very helpful. Can you clarify what "doesn't
work" means? From the screen shot it's not immediately clear what is
broken about it. Will it not let you type? Not let you apply? etc.
Hi Eddie. Sorry for the delay getting back to you on this. Can you
clarify a couple of things for me before I create this as a ticket in
our internal bug tracking system? Unfortunately, I'm traveling abroad
and I don't have a Windows machine that I can test easily. When you say
search input, do you mean the "draggable stack" on the left rail where
you search for dimensions, metrics, etc.? Do you mean the search filters
within a dimension? Both? Something else entirely? Have you tested in
The data we see on permissions is a little different than that, but we
will be updating permissions in the near future to make all of this
easier and more manageable. As I mentioned in my last note, I agree that
this particular permission was handled a bit inconsistently. Either way,
I'm glad to hear that the more immediate problem should be resolved!
What a strange confluence of events. First, I'm very sorry that we
inadvertently gave all of your users access to the tool. I agree that it
seems a bit inconsistent that we have Ad Hoc Analysis and Report Builder
as groups, but Analysis Workspace is a checkbox. There is probably not
much that we can do about that in the very short term, but we are
actively working toward a streamlined permissions model that will allow
you to grant/restrict access much more easily across dimensions,
metrics, and ...
Hey Matt. Great requests. You know you can collapse the entire panel at
the moment, but it will collapse the visualization as well. Curious to
know whether anyone else on here is looking for auto-refresh on the
Cool. In the future, you can bring these feature requests up on the
calls (or submit directly to our engineering team using the Beta
Feedback button in the beta environment), rather than posting them here.
I think it would be great to have a bit of discussion around this and
some of the other ideas you've mentioned.
Nathan, I tried to reproduce this while logged in to your account, and I
could not. The CSV files downloaded normally for me when I created a
basic project. Can you test and see whether it is specific to certain
projects or applies to all of them? If the former, can you send me the
name of a project where you're seeing this behavior? Thanks, Ben
Hi Nathan, Thanks for reporting this. I will let our engineering team
know. If possible, can you send me a private message (click on my
profile name and then click "Send Benjamin Gaines a private message")
with your company name and the report suite you were using? They will
need this in order to try to reproduce. Thanks, Ben
Yes, that's correct. What we'll probably end up doing in the
visualizations is concatenating the different column headers. For
example:Revenue - First Time VisitsRevenue - Return VisitsIn that
example you have two columns, both showing revenue, with one segment
applied to each column.
Thanks, Andy. We completely agree. The bulk of our efforts over the
coming months will be spent creating these workspaces and workflows. Our
goal is to enable exactly what you described: broader adoption of the
tools for self-service so that the analytics team can spend its time
doing what it is uniquely qualified to do, rather than pulling reports
for people who have forgotten their logins 🙂 This is great
feedback/validation, and I'm going to share it with the whole team
involved in bringing t...
Our engineering team reviewed this and were able to reproduce what you
are seeing. They noted that the CSV file itself contains the correct
characters; it is only when using Excel that the characters become
garbled. Try opening the CSV file in a text editor or other application
and let me know if that's not working.
