Seeing how you have built your segments will help us to help you. As Bjoern said, typically de-duplication should make the numbers smaller, not larger.. there must be some other logic at play here that we can't see.
Sadly, you used to be able to add a date range into a segment without it overriding the panel range... but changes to the logic now mean that any date added inside the segment overrides the panel.
What you could try is using the Month dimension to look for users in "Apr 2025":
