I am not 100% sure but I think the current version of the "packaged" player doesn't have support for the camera (you could try to build an application that lists cameras and microphones and see if you get anything. If you do get the camera we can investigate of why it's not working).
And, now that Apple has released the limitations on "converted" application I am sure the an updated version of the packager will be more aligned with the Android mobile player (but I have no idea of when a new version of the packager is scheduled for)
