Track PDFs usage (not downloads)

I'd like to know further possibilities for tracking PDF usage beyond downloads. As you can see in this article, it is possible to do so on Google Analytics https://www.sixthcitymarketing.com/2018/01/26/track-pdfs-in-google-analytics/

For example:

  • The PDF’s page views
  • Unique page views
  • Average time on page
  • Bounce rate
  • Links to the PDF
  • Origin of these links

Is this available in Adobe Analytics too?

Adobe published a new SDK that allows to track the usage of pdf's embeded on the website: https://medium.com/adobetech/pdf-analytics-get-insights-on-embedded-pdfs-on-your-website-44e6a314fb1...

be aware that this does not allow to track the usage of the pdf's within eg. Adobe Acrobat Reader. But I think talking with web devs to add this in-page reader might (and event tracking) opens new data about the usage pf those docs.

I don't think it is possible to track the usage of PDF after download - neither with Google Analytics or Adobe Analytics!

I agree with this. The link posted just shows how to add code to track PDF downloads... they might be calling it "PDF page views" in that blogpost, but it's really not....

I think this is not possible too
