Segments using 'then' function

Avatar

Hi,

I have a question about the 'Then' function when creating a segment.

If I create a segment like this:

page = homepage

then after 1 page view

page = product page

Does this mean that I am looking for user who saw the home page, then saw any other page and then saw a product page? What if a user views the home page, then an info page followed by a help page and then a product page, will they be included in the segment?

Thanks,

Frank

Hi Frank,

The After operator defines the minimum limit between two checkpoints, which here are /default.aspx and  /jobsearch/results.aspx.

So according to the logic, all those visits which have at least one pageview between the two pages will get included in the segment.

This document on the AFTER operator will give you more clarity - https://marketing.adobe.com/resources/help/en_US/analytics/segment/seg_example_time_between_after.ht...

Hope this helps!

TM

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out to Adobe Community.

The THEN operator lets you define sequential segments. It let's you follow the sequence.

See the below doc for more understanding:

Thanks!

Hi Frank,

Thanks for reaching out.

Could you tell me what container you are using? I am also not clear about 'after 1 page view'.

It would be great if you could post a screenshot of your segment rule.

I've attached a screenshot of the segment I am trying to create.

I just want to understand the logic of it. What does 'then after 1 page view' mean?

If a user views the page:

 /default.aspx

then

page x

then

 page y

then

 /JobSearch/Results.aspx

will they be included in this segment?

Thanks
