IP Geography Visualization

Currently, the Globe is a great "show" feature during demos.  Consumers find the information interesting but not consumable as the ip address "clouds", showing concentration of activity by geography, often bleeds into each other and across state/country boundaries.   It's difficult for consumers to understand what areas have the heavier concentration (or lack of concentration) and they do not use this feature for analysis or reporting because of this.

Is there a new layer that can be developed that would show activity within a state/country border (similar to what Google Analytics provides today?  I have an example but it won't attach to this posting for some reason.  Color coding a state/country by activity is more consumable for the business and easier for them to take action for a particular campaign and/or growth strategy.

This was a feature request we submitted originally on 5/07/2009 associated with ticket 090505-000113.

This would be huge for LendingTree and was specifically requested by our CMO.  I asked Peter Shum about it a few weeks ago.  He said it cannot be done unless the product can support arc instead of vector files. The census bureau is only using arc files now which can easily be downloaded and installed in workstation, however workstation does not read arc files.  He suggested that we push this during our CAB meetings.  Sounds like this Ideas Exchange is a great start for that.  Let's get this one promoted!

I would like to see ARC files being read and/or a converter being provided as a library that comes with the stock installation
