Recently got confirmation that a very large German ISP still doesn’t like tracked links in Marketo emails. By “doesn’t like” I mean their webmail totally chokes and displays the (partial) source code: This has been the case for at least a year, probably forever. Bugs happen, obviously, and bugs get ignored. But I less than amused to hear (via a 3rd party) that the provider won’t fix their bug because they say “Marketo is sending invalid HTML.” Nope. Not even close! It’s true that other valid HTML wouldn’t trigger this particular bug, but the bug is entirely on the provider’s side. (Line) breaking it down When it rewrites links to bounce off the tracking server, Marketo adds a line break — a true CRLF, not HTML <br> tag — before the value of the href attribute, after the = sign. That is, if the original markup in Email Editor looked like this: <li style="font-family: calibri, tahom
Paging through my CodePen demos, I always find techniques that never got their own blog post. Here’s one that deserves a promotion. You may not have thought about it, but native HTML date fields — <input type="date"> — don’t support custom placeholder text. They either display a date pattern by default (left image) or a formatted date value (right image)[1]: Each browser has its own picker style (Chrome on the left, Firefox on the right): The problem with this behavior is that when your form doesn’t have visible labels, as with the form above, placeholders are the only way people know what they’re filling in. How else would you know the 4th field is Date of Birth, right? The only way to get placeholders is to eschew true <input type="date"> and instead use <input type="text"> enhanced with a non-native datepicker library. This isn’t something I would typically recommend

Hi all, I am using Fileupload of resourcetype:"cq/gui/components/authoring/dialog/fileupload" inside multifield. I am able to drag and drop the asset, submit the dialog and the values are also getting stored. The problem is when I reopen the dialog the configured values are gone. Fileupload outside multifield is working fine. The above problem arise only when I use Fileupload inside multifield.content.xml:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><jcr:root xmlns:sling="http://sling.apache.org/jcr/sling/1.0" xmlns:cq="http://www.day.com/jcr/cq/1.0" xmlns:jcr="http://www.jcp.org/jcr/1.0" xmlns:nt="http://www.jcp.org/jcr/nt/1.0"jcr:primaryType="nt:unstructured"sling:resourceType="cq/gui/components/authoring/dialog"><contentjcr:primaryType="nt:unstructured"sling:resourceType="granite/ui/components/coral/foundation/container"><items jcr:primaryType="nt:unstructured"><columnsjcr:primaryType="nt:unstructured"sling:resourceType="granite/ui/components/coral

We have extended the core text component in our website. When I author an image / hyperlink inside the table <td> attribute in RTE, the image / hyperlink gets removed from the DOM on submission(image is not displayed and image tag is removed from the html). When I add the image/hyperlink outside the table, its getting displayed. Please let me know if anyone has faced the similar issue.@vijayalakshmi_s @arunpatidar @suraj_kamdi

I had an instance that crashed. I was working on content fragments and had set policies to only allow certain content fragment models to be under some folders to organize data. I have stood up a new instance but the policies tab does not show in the folder configurations so I can change which content fragment models may be seen. If I apply a package that had the old settings, clicking on the folder causes errors. What do I need to set to enable the policies tab on folders?
Are you a Workfront System Administrator who "inherited" an existing instance of Workfront (vs. being part of the team from the start)? If so, would you be open to a quick, 30-minute chat? I'm part of a team at Workfront that creates programs that help customers better adopt and use Workfront, and my next big project is helping Admins who are taking over an existing instance. I'm certain MANY of you have advice for those folks, and a list of "what I wish I had known." I'd love to hear it! Anything you share will be used to create resources, from templates, to checklists, to email programs, or in-app guidance to hopefully make a System Admin’s life easier. You can see my availability and book time with me directly here. [INTERVIEW SLOTS ARE CURRENTLY FULL] Thanks so much to anyone willing to share their time and experience, I genuinely appreciate it (as do our future System Admins!). AEM Clientlib Minification issue and how to debug- by Debal Das Abstract We all know that minification allows us to reduce the size of the files being requested. We also know that AEM provides an OOTB OSGi configuration to enable minification on the instances which in time will reduce the size of the Javascript (JS)/CSS files being requested, improving the loading time of the pages. But many times minification didn’t work despite being this AEM OOTB OSGi configuration enabled on AEM clientlibs. Personally I had encountered this issue and even I have seen several posts specially with ECMASCRIPT6 minification isn’t working or clientlib isn’t getting minified. Now I will talk about how can we debug this issue here. Approach:1 Like any other issue we always start the debug with log file so, no exception in this case also. We need to check error.log file of the relevant AEM instance and then search with the file name like clientlib.min.js or clientlib.js Please don’t get confused w
Putting Super Authors to Work by Farhan Mohammed Abstract Today we’re going to take a detailed look at Super Authors – a categorization of contributors that developers set when assigning permissions during an implementation. Super Authors in AEM have control over various configurations within the environment. The development team sets these configurations to allow non-developers to fine-tune marketing material. AEM super authors can be segmented (grouped) like author contributors based on brand(s) and/or department(s) within an organization. In general, it’s best practice for AEM developers and architects to keep super authors in mind when solutioning and developing in AEM. Developers can focus on consolidating design and policy configurations at the design dialog level, which will simplify authoring while providing high-level of customization without developer intervention. This article will cover AEM best practices for out of the box (OOTB) functionality for a super author to meet
Inheritance – AEM by Kiran Vedantam Abstract There are many ways inheritance is implemented in AEM. For today’s topic, we would be discussing a couple of use-cases on how to access the properties from either ancestral pages or components Use case1: Accessing a page property that is authored on the home page into its child pages using java code. Solution: HierarchyNodeInheritanceValueMap An InheritanceValueMap for a given page resource that will inherit values from ancestral pages. On my /content/allaem/us/en page, I have added a property A new object is created for HierarchyNodeInheritanceValueMap and current page content resource is passed into it as a parameter. Here, the InheritanceValueMap checks for “jcr:description” in /content/allaem/us/en/home/jcr:content /content/allaem/us/en/jcr:content /content/allaem/us/jcr:content /content/allaem/jcr:content If the property is found nowhere, null is returned. This model is now referenced in the text component’s htl in the below w
What is Sling Resource Merger? by Heena Shirke Abstract Sling Resource Merger is a Differencing Mechanism which only works for standard Granite implementation. Let's say you would like to overlay a node from /libs and update some properties on it. Overlaying a node to /apps needs exact structure under /apps folder. Without Sling Resource Merger concept, you would have to create a 1:1 copy towards node from /libs to /apps. Now, with Sling Resource Merger, you just need to create empty structure towards the node and only add properties you wish to update. This mechanism will take care of combining the structure based on priority of nodes defined in Apache Sling Resource Resolver Factory configuration. It benefits the overlay/override of resources and/or properties to be merged with the original resources/properties rather than potential duplication of nodes. The purpose for using the Sling Resource Merger in AEM are to: Ensure that customization changes are not made in /libs. Thi
