Your guide to linking directly to __________ in Workfront.

As promised in the recent thread about linking directly to a dashboard in a custom layout, attached is my documentation for deep linking to any specific tab or sub-tab in Workfront. I find the shortcuts for global landing pages (projects, reports, requests) to be useful for bookmarking, but the object-specific shortcuts can be very powerful in report-building. One example of how I use this is: We have a request queue, in which most requests are converted to projects. While viewing a project report, we want a column with a link that takes us directly to the original request's custom form data. To do that, we: 1. Have a custom field (among many) called "Original Request ID" on a project's custom form. Before converting a request to a project, the PM copies the request's object ID from the URL in the browser. During the project set-up, they paste that ID into the custom field. 2. Following the steps outlined in "https://support.workfront.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004104847-How-to-Concatenate-Hyperlinks-and-Shorten-URL">this help article , I add a calculated field that generates a URL using my domain info, the object ID from the custom field described above, and the suffix that displays the tab I want shown. 3. In my project report, I added a column that will display the shortcut generated in step 2. The extra step of copying/pasting the object ID into a custom field isn't ideal, but it does let us bypass Workfront's limitation of reporting against a single object type in one report. I hope you find this document useful, and I would love to see this thread fill up with other ideas and use cases! Correction Log: (Because I am able to edit the original post, but not the attachment, I will note corrections below. Apologies in advance for human error...) Thanks David. I kind of rushed the first draft to market, so have updated it with some corrections and additions that were previously omitted. I'm uploading the .doc version so others can maintain this document in the event I have to exit the community in the future... Consider it something to remember me by :) There's just a couple I can't figure out, and maybe they're not possible - linking to "sub" tabs that are nested two levels deep. E.g. Specific User > User Details > Custom Forms . I've included the data name for that section in the document, in case someone more clever than me wants to give it a stab. What I ended up doing with the direct links to areas in the global landing pages is create browser bookmarks for each of them, along with a couple other helpful links for the average user, then bundled them into a bookmarks HTML file that users can import directly to their own browser. So now users have this in their browser: William English Disney Destinations
