Truncating Updates in a report

Does anyone know if there is a way to truncate long updates when using them in a report. We are creating a report that has a field for the latest update but often that update is very long and creates a long column entry which ruins the appearance of the report. It would be nice to show the first 8-10 words, then More button if you want to read the rest.

Hi Mark! Convenient that you should ask, we actually have a report "recipe" in the newly launched Customer Reporting cookbook that covers this exact thing! Check out the "Most Recent Update" recipe on page 6 of the cookbook, I think it might get you a long way toward where you're going.

Hi Mark,

In addition to the Cookbook, I invite you to try WF-Pro's Shortened Description (Any Object) and/or the Latest Update w/ Icon Hover for Full Update (Any Object)...the latter colorizing the text based on its age (green > orange > red), similar to how The Scoop solution works.
