How do I completely hide a column in a report?

Avatar

I have a column in a report that I want to group and sort by but not display in the report. I use to be able to add the following text mode and it would hide the column. Now, the contents of the column are gone but I still have a very narrow column with the arrow indicating that I'm sorting by that field. I tried removing the sort but still get a very narrow column with no heading and no content. How do I make it drop off the report altogether?

Hi - if you want to sort by a column that is not shown, try these steps...

  1. Create the column you want and switch to text mode
  2. Find the querysort line and copy it
  3. Go to another column that you do want to display and switch to text mode
  4. Find the querysort line and paste the info to replace it
  5. Add underneath it

sortOrder=1

sortType=asc

And then you can just delete the other column. :)

I just tried this and it worked great. The only caveat, you have to delete the column you want to hide BEFORE you copy the text to another column. Tim Brooks Invicro
