External Lookup fields with HTTP Put or Post methods

Has anyone tried using either of these methods with the external lookup functionality?  I am really curious how they would be used and what they would accomplish.

Vyneta, I've not used the PUT or POST functionality either for the same reason, haven't had a usecase that would make sense.  I do use them with GET a fair amount, as example since the Issues object isn't part of typeahead field I've used external lookup to allow users to see existing issues that might tie into a new request they are creating to help tie into reporting.

Hi! unfortunately, I have not found an answer to this, but it was more a matter of curiosity. If someone has discovered a use case, I would really love to learn about it.
