Copied Project Report

Hi All, Does anyone know if its possible to report on whether a project has been made from copying an old one? Where we are constantly making changes to templates, so when users raise a discrepancy we want to be able to tell if the reason there is an issue is because an old project that was made before more recent changes have been made to templates has been copied. Thanks in advance and happy Friday :D Vicky Fitzgerald Telegraph Media Group Limited

Tricky, Vicky. Although a Template-based (copied) Project Entry Date might be earlier than the (Last Updated) date that a Template was modified, I'm not aware of any out of the box indicators that would confirm that the Project was copied vs created. So (going forward), I'd suggest you roll your own by: create a custom calculated parameter called Original Project ID add it to your standard Project custom form(s) -- those on the templates -- so that it will always be present set its formula to IF(ISBLANK(Original Project ID),ID,Original Project ID) confirm that when a Project is created that its Original Project ID will match its own ID confirm that when a Project is copied that its Original Project ID will retain the original copy's ID consider creating a report to filter for and highlight such copies Regards, Doug Den Hoed - AtAppStore Got Skills? Following. To save my life, I can't get users to stop copying projects created from obsolete template versions. I wish "copy projects" was an option that could be disabled in user access settings. I recently posted on how I'm stamping the template name in a calculated field; and iterating the template's name with each revision so I can tell what was the template version used to create a project. EDIT: Doug posted while I was composing, and I like his suggestion better. But, it is still predicated on users not clearing custom form data when they copy. There is a "https://support.workfront.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115005740147-Show-lineage-of-copied-projects">related suggestion out on the idea exchange as well. I don't necessarily need to see the entire lineage, but would be satisfied to see "from what project was this copied, if any?" William English

How about an exception report of projects. Project entry date greater than "New template available date" Project.Template.version Equals "Old template version" Make user attach new template and "fix" the project.
