Board using Milestones?

Avatar

Level 2

Hi friends!

We have a milestone path we've attached to certain projects. I've gotten a request to create a board where the milestones are the columns. I've searched some, I've played some, but I can't seem to figure it out. Is this possible?

hi, this isn't possible. If you create "milestone columns," you would have to manually move the tasks into the relevant column. You're better off creating a report and using the milestone view.

Since @skyehansen confirmed that milestones themselves don't work this way, consider that custom fields at the task level can help. Increasingly I'm finding that milestone paths have more limitations than I like (for example, if your projects have an unpredictable number of content reviews, a custom form means you don't have to generate 20 different Review milestones). The form would include a field that has your milestones and you can reuse those field values (unlike milestones, which are unique). From there, you can filter and organize your Board.

Of course, if you're very entrenched in milestone paths already, that would be quite the shift.
