set default planned start / completion time on default fields in queue setup

Currently, when a user makes a request on the system, the planned start date and planned completion date "time" defaults to NOW. The user frequently just changes the date but not the time which can cause issues later on. We want to be able to set the default "time" for the planned start / completion date to avoid these issues.

The default times should align with the default hours setup under the company profile. The amount of time spent changing the time of day really adds up fast and could easily be avoided.

I would even like the option to turn it off. We don't use resource scheduling (we only have 1 of each position) so there's no need for time stamps in our case (yet, anyhow) - perhaps in the future. But the ability to set the default to company hours or turn it off completely would be great for how we are set up now.

We agree.

When a new Request is submitted, a Planned Completion Date is displayed to the requestor. We'd like the ability to turn this off. This causes a lot of confusion for our requestors who think that seeing an immediate Planned Completion Date is the date the project will be completed. This occurs before we even evaluate the request, assign resource or determine the schedule and then we have to explain why the Planned Completion Date is just a system-generated date that is not the true date.

Please note that we're not referring to the Planned Completion Date field used in Projects. To be clear, we're specifically referring to the Planned Completion Date that is auto-generated by the system when someone submits an Issue/Request.

This also causes issues for us. If a person enters the same start and end date for the issue but the time isn't a full work day it won't show up in the resource grid (9am to 3pm vs 8am to 5pm). It would be great to have the time defaulted to the scheduled working hours.

Yes please! My team ALWAYS has to remember to change the Planned Completion Date time to 5pm on on projects because the requestor forgets. otherwise the schedules are all a day off.

We are dealing with this same issue on the Project level. An user will attach a task template and all tasks correctly adjust times based on the default 9am-5pm schedule. But as soon as the user, who is in Eastern time zone, it defaults to 12AM local time and therefore all of the tasks are reset to 12AM ET on their respective days as well. Users in Central time then see due dates on the day before since they are shown one hour earlier (11pm).

Coming back to this years later than the original poster, has anyone figured out a solve for this? I would love to display to our requestors at least a week of lead time on planned completion or a more accurate planned start date. Not the next day.
