Combine the functionalities of Capacity Planner, Resource Budget Manager, Resource Grid and Resource Estimates in one streamlined tool which is:

  1. Not reliant on Adobe Flash,
  2. Makes use of multiple roles assigned to the users,
  3. Is more performance-friendly,
  4. Provides clear visibility on resource allocation across different portfolios, projects and roles.
  5. Allows to easily identify and correct overallocation

Agreed, the current tools are inadequate and severely restrict the power of WorkFront to manage portfolios and resources.

We have raised the issue of the Flash player crashing in these tools, with no feasible solution being provided.

It would also be great if we could have a view that we could lay-out a list of projects and show across weeks and months when team members are involved. Also allowing us to change colors on the bars. We don't track hours so the resource planning tools don't work. We use excel or creative forms to show the list.

Hi Kris. To see a calendar across weeks and months when team members are involved, I invite you to consider our Draggable Calendar solution, and have included a screen shot below. Oh and yes: every person can have their own color, which you get to choose.

Regards,

Doug

Please include the ability to aggregate this information at different levels of time intervals. We have projects that span 2-3 years and sometimes look at resources at a Quarterly level. The current Resource planner that shows this information at a daily level is far too fine-grained.

Hi everyone,

The initial version of the new tool is planned to go live in production with our 2017.2 release. It will allow you to prioritize projects and to budget hours by months. The next phases will include customizing, saving and sharing filters, week and quarter breakdowns, user and role-based views as well as additional settings to control the displayed data.

We do not want to lose the functionality of the Resource Planning tool. We have weekly staffing meetings on Wednesdays where our Traffic teams meet with our PMs to go over their teams allocation and who they are needing. We need to be able to pull this information by Portfolio, Program, etc. We need to be able to view the total amount of hours they are assigned to and what projects/tasks they are being requested on. If we lose this functionality, it would be detrimental to our company. The allocation page for each user is what we need, but combined as a whole like the User Utilization page. We do not use job roles. Example: Say someone is in need of a Designer for 10 hours but they are not sure who to assign. Well we have set up "x-roles" by using the review license type and set up fake users for all of our different titles. This allows the PM to assign the 10 hours to the X Designer role and when we review staffing on Wednesday's, our resource managers/traffic team can easily view that the PM is needing a Designer and can take a look at every designer's overall capacity to see who could take the work. If we do not have a clean way to view allocations of all of our employees and resources, it would hurt us.

Hi Vazgen,

We don't want to lose the existing working features in the Resource Grid. This is the closest Team Calendar that we have so far because it gives us the following data.

1. Show all the Consultants

2. Use the filter if we want to only show few Consultants or group them by Region

3. It gives us the specific booking's start date and time

4. It shows the three months schedule and check for any white spaces or double bookings

5. It shows if the Consultant is on-leave for the whole day

6. It shows all types of bookings (billable, admin)

7. Able to see the past three months or the following three months

8. Able to add other fields (e.g. roles/skills)

9. Shows red if the Consultant is overbooked

These are the missing info for us to be able to see the full Team Bookings and hopefully will be added in the future version

1. Show if the work is scheduled or unscheduled (we have written a custom report to show this). This view is important to ensure that all the work in the next few days are confirmed. It would be good if the hours is green it is scheduled/confirmed, orange if it's unscheduled/tentative. Feature Request#16298466

2. Show when the Consultant has partial leave (it would be good if a partial shaded column will show). Feature Request#17170419

3. Be able to extract the available hours/Capacity/Utilisation calculation in a report. Feature Request#18174092
