Freeze project condition when status is On Hold

Description - We need a better solution to represent the Project Condition when a project goes On Hold.

Why is this feature important to you - Users, especially leaders, are easily distracted by any Project Condition that is not On Target. When a project is on hold, the project condition has little to no meaning.

How would you like the feature to work - If a project has a status that equates to On Hold, the Project Condition should either be On Target or null.

Current Behaviour - The Project Condition will continue to calculate and eventually show an unfavorable value when a project is On Hold.

The project's designated condition is continuing to degrade because the project settings for 'Condition Type' are likely set to Progress Status. If you want to be able to fix the Condition of a project in place while it's on-hold you can change that flag to Manual on the project.  If you really want to indicate something more meaningful in the Condition field, a custom Condition could be created in your Setup area also.

@KatherineLa Manual Progress Status is not tenable for our organization as we have hundreds of (sometimes over a thousand) projects rolling at a time. There are already dozens of components per project that our project managers are monitoring and tweaking, some requiring more complex analysis. Therefore we take advantage of whatever automation we can get for simpler functions like Progress Status.

Ohh, high volume would definitely make that a pain. Our volume is similar, and I wouldn't want to train my people on that either. 

From a functionality standpoint, it would depend on whether Fusion is an available tool for your org. In mine, I'd accomplish the goal that way. Have Fusion watch for a project's status changing to On Hold, and flip the switch, then reverse it when the status went off of On Hold.

The behavior of the default On Hold status does not stop the progression of the project's timeline, which causes the behavior you're seeing. Once upon a time, it was also true that the project would continue to send notifications about late tasks, date changes etc. and my team found that incredibly annoying.  We chose to completely disable the stock 'On Hold' status entirely as a result, and created an identically named custom status that equated to 'Planning' in order to stop those notifications. 

We did that early in our implementation so it wasn't too painful to get in place. Possibly a thing you could consider adding in over time, depending on how much reporting/fusion would would need to be redeveloped.

@Lyndsy-Denk - Is using the manual project condition an option instead of the automatic? That's how we get around it until the project is back in progress.
