Display logic within custom field choices

In addition to the display logic that already exists for custom forms, we have a need for field choices to show based on the response to a previous question.

For example:

Question 1: Product Family
Choices 1: Home Services, Customer Service, Web App, etc..

If I choose 'Home Services in question 1 I only want to display limited choices for question 2

Question 2: Product
Choices 2: Home Services Product 1, Home Services Product 2, etc....

I need the Product list to be a comprehensive list of all products for reporting purposes, but want to have display logic within the question to only show certain choices based on an answer to a previous question.

As an update, I wanted to let you know that upgrades to Custom Forms builder became a part of a bigger initiative and these sort of enhancements are going to be a part of it. Hence, I’m marking this idea as “Not Planned” as the delivery of it is falling out of Idea Exchange defined time frames.


We will be reaching you out proactively, during the research phase and in the meantime, I’d encourage you to add your use cases here for the future analysis by our team.

Please include Synchrony in research on this topic.


We have so many examples where cutting down the values that are displaying in a list based on a selection in a prior field. As a result, we have dozens of extra "smaller" fields created to help de-clutter for the user downstream, but having it dynamically hide like display logic for other fields would be a significant improvement.

Hi, any updates on this item or the overall Custom Forms builder upgrade initiative? This is actually a huge limiting factor for reporting as well as intake. Would be great to just use one dropdown field in a report, rather than multiple because each one has a subset to take advantage of the logic and thus requires multiple reports.

Would also love to see if there's an update here - We run into a load of roadblocks where we'd rather keep all data in one field, but without being able to make the dropdown options dependent on another field, it becomes messy and unintuitive.

We are a new customer and really need this option to filter drop-down choices based on the value selected in the previous drop-down field. I do not like having to create a new drop-down field for every subset of the first drop-down field options :(
