Changing report owner

For me it would be a great if it is possible to change the report owner from an inactive one to an active one. We have a few reports created by someone who is not working at the company anymore. I would like to become the owner of these projects but at the moment that's not possible.

@Gevorg. It would be very helpful. We have people who own reports that move on. Once reports are copied over you then need to go on as the user and delete the original as the user has moved on and needed to be deactivated in Workfront. I spent 2.5 hours copying reports the other day. Once reports are copied you have to reshare to the same people, which means you need to document who had visibility in the first place and then share again. To rebuild reports takes time as certain reports are more entailed than others; you're having to jump back and forth to see filters/columns/groups.

Unfortunate that this isn't on the roadmap. It would really reduce the workload on administrators when a report builder moves on.

My take on ideas to make this work:

  1. Being able to have certain objects "owned" by the system itself, rather than a specific person.
  2. Or, owned by some concept of "all admins."
  3. Or, just to easily transfer ownership of any object—ANY object—to another person, preferrably as a bulk edit.

Hi @MelissaAv1  ,

Thank you for the idea. I'm working the Jonathan Chen to get updates on the top ideas that haven't had any recent updates.

I work in the Product Management team. I checked with Ben Robbins. He is one of the Group Product Managers. Here is his response for this idea:

""This is unique to legacy reports and we likely won't have the same experience in the new canvas dashboards — the reason why a report owner is important in legacy doesn’t exist in the new since report creation and edits are democratized.
It's currently too early to suggest we'll solve it with new reporting, and we'll need to see if it is still an ask once the new reporting rolls out."

@MoniqueEvans Done! Though given both ideas' ages, I'd recommend submitting a new idea and merging these ideas into that one so it doesn't run the risk of being archived.
