Add default custom form assignment to projects in admin settings

Description - We would like to add global custom forms to all projects by default. This would be a setting in the admin project setup section. By adding this capability, I can add company-wide custom forms when a user creates a project.

 

Why is this feature important to you - There is no way to add a mandatory custom form to projects. We use custom forms at the project level to categorize export compliance classification and non-standard identifiers.

 

How would you like the feature to work - Add a Project Setting in the admin setup area where admins can specify default custom forms on project creation and on existing projects. It would also make sense to add this to individual Group's settings, where groups can have default custom forms associated with projects they create instead of having to define templates just to add custom forms to their projects, which would not work if a user does not create a project from a template.

 

Current Behaviour - Must have project creators manually add custom forms and if they do not, the project does not have those custom fields.

Hi there, do you use project templates? You could add custom form(s) to your project templates, and then every time a project is created using any of those templates it'll automatically have the form(s) you added.

Yes, but as I mentioned, using templates requires the users to create projects based on a template. I would like to make sure all projects created have default custom forms.

Ah. So maybe the idea could be something in layout templates like you said, or in Setup > Project Preferences > Projects, allow admins to opt into something like 'attach custom form(s) to projects without templates' and if opted into, select the form to add. This would be cool to have alongside this other preference (if they select this checkbox, then allows admins to associate a form to projects not with a template or any project regardless of template).

There's actually 2 places this would be needed. At the global setting (Setup -> Project Preferences -> Projects) and within each Group's project settings. This way, the groups can control if and what custom forms they want defaulted without templates.

Does anyone know if this functionality ever became available.  I am looking to do the same thing that was requested in this post.   I want to create a custom form and globally add it to Projects, Task, Document and Issue object types.   So that if you navigated to the object details page, it would be attached and able to be filled in by the user.
