Ability to track more than 300 fields for Journal Entry Reports

Currently 300 custom fields can be tracked for use in Journal Entry Reports. The same field does not carry over into different custom forms, so if you need to track the same field in two custom forms, it counts as two fields. We have several groups on our instance of Workfront and have reached the maximum in a very short time. In the financial world, much of our data needs to auditable. It would be helpful to to be able to track a much larger number of fields. Especially for those that have several departments on one instance. It would also be helpful to be able to run a report to show which fields on which custom forms are being tracked.

Agree with Brandy.

Currently, we are at 290 out of the 300 limit.

We are in a position where we have pushback on teams who want to track new custom fields.

If it can be increased without causing performance degradation that would be great for our teams.

Best,

Christian

We just ran into this issue and hope this limit can be increased AND allow the same field to count as 1 when being tracked on two different forms.

Can anyone confirm if this limit of 300 is per object or is it for all objects?

Hi @jamesm-merge,

By default, I believe 300 in total is the max (although have heard it can be increased upon special request).

Another max to consider is 500 parameters per custom forms, non negotiable (says the guy who was caught doing 1500+ in a 500 zone, back when that law came into effect…quite a ticket, but fortunately no demerits…)

Regards,

Doug

Thanks @doug_den_hoed__atappstore!

I read on this thread (Report on custom form fields using "Track field changes in update feeds") "WF support says that is the limit so they can't increase it."

Honestly, if you are going to call Workfront an 'Enterprise' level software, the idea of only having 300 tracked fields is ridiculous.  Additionally, as far as I can tell, it is impossible to do tracked field on Billing Records and financial data is one of the most important things we want to track.  Honestly, these limitations are actually causing us to look into alternatives to Workfront.

100% agree, especially for an enterprise-level platform, the limit needs to be much higher.

If this helped you, please mark correct to help others : )
