First and possibly the most important question – how do I access Boards?

The Boards feature is available to all licenses, but you'll need to have your system administrator make it available on the Main Menu on the user’s Layout Templates.  For more info, here’s the article:

Customize the Main Menu using a layout template

Interested in new Boards features? Here’s the article for Early feature opt-in for Adobe Workfront Boards.

Bonus Tip: Looking to understand more about each type of Board Template? Check out the definitions here: Create or edit a board

Common Question – How do I pull in cards from existing projects? And how to I link the column progress to the tasks progress?

We had several “How to” questions in the chat, and one of my favorite resources are these pages with all of the hyperlinks you need to turn existing projects into Boards. (I have these bookmarked myself. )

For our specific questions, we’ve provided the links here:

Bonus tip: For Importing Requests: Consider experimenting with Workstreams. (Also a great feature for your Sprints.) Workstreams allow you to pull in tasks and issues directly from Workfront just like other Boards do using sources and filters. You can also connect cards back to tasks after creating the card.

Here’s more detail:

Bonus Q: When a task's status is updated within a project (e.g. from New to In Progress), the task does not automatically move on the board (from the New column to the In Progress column). Is that expected behavior?

A: It is expected, though we are going to be adding dynamic update functionality that will allow for an option for these to move automatically.

Tips for Scrum Ceremonies?

Many of us have worked in organizations with vastly different approaches to Agile, so the only “rule” is to find what works best for your collaborative teams.

Daily Stand-ups: Keep them short and consistent, with only the Scrum team sharing. Tip shared:

  • One of my prior team's just gave everyone 2 minutes. When your two minutes were up, that was it. We also had a safe word (tippy-toe) that anyone could use when someone's update was drifting into Problem-Solving

Planning Meetings: Typically, the longest, most intensive ceremony.

  • Tip shared: this meeting must take priority over any other meetings
  • Bonus tip: for Story sizing, there are several approaches, including “Planning Poker” with a Fibonacci scale, T-shirt sizing, and even estimated hours. Use the approach that works best for your team and be consistent.

Reviews/Retrospectives: Just a great idea to implement for all types of projects and collaborative teams, not just Agile teams. And the Retrospective Board template is an easy way to get started with Workfront Boards as well as to implement Scrum ceremonies into your current processes. The key is to create an environment of psychological safety.

  • Tip shared: Consider using the Workfront Retrospective Board and connecting any “Action Item” card to the applicable project.

Hi Cynthia,

Good day,

Do we have velocity metrics for Kanban included in the new metrics report in Boards?
