The Boards functionality in Workfront allows users to use set the status of their choice per column and are not limited to the 'locked' status limitation.

For the Beta, we have to turn it on for your entire organization versus user by user.

To clarify, the issue is having to toggle on the functionality for each individual scrum team versus enforcing it on the project level, so no matter what scrum team gets the assignment, the dates will be ignored?

This feature has been toggled on for some customers in their production accounts. If you'd like early access to your production account, let me know. It is live in preview for all users.
