I always do the tab order last. I start by clicking the automatic numbering, then I switch to custom and correct any problems. You just can't infer the order on some forms. We have many that go down one column and then over to the next column. LiveCycle would put them in line horizontally. I've noticed that this new version likes to stick objects under things on the Master Page. Those are really hard to move to their correct position. Sometimes I just delete the thing on the Master Page and then...

What version of Designer are you using? I know versions 7 and 8 were tabbing nightmares but 9.0 is a dream. They seemed to have paid attention to all the griping we did in the past versions.

We have a whole unit of people who make our forms in Spanish. They say that they keep Word open, type the characters and then paste them into LiveCycle. I just KNOW there has to be a better way so I'll be waiting to hear the answers to this question also, so I can pass it along to them. Thanks for asking the question....

That's interesting about the tags. And that's probably why I was given that message about protected mode because I had JAWS operating at the time I was testing my dynamic form. Once I changed that option, it read my document perfectly. In case you want to run your document with JAWS operating, you can download the program at Freedom Scientific and it's a fully functioning demo that will run for 40 minutes at a time. This would be a far better tool to test your documents with than the free Adobe ...

I have created a dynamic stamp in Adobe Reader and would now like to show someone the process for creating a stamp from scratch. The problem is that one the stamp was created it's always there under my name. How do I delete this stamp from the menu so that I can create a new one from scratch? I know when I made a digital signature it asked me where I wanted to store that signature. The stamps don't do that so I have no idea where they are to delete them.Any help you can offer would be great.

Personally, I like the pdf best. If it's a form for a client, it can be opened with the free Adobe Reader. They can fill it in, save a copy for their files, digitally sign the form, post comments on the form, share it with others, and email it in to who ever needs to have that completed pdf back. The pdf can then be saved into the client's file by the receiver. To me, that's a no brainer over a web form unless you need to do data capture from the web form. I have been telling local doctor's offi...

Yes, I have. It works on both static and dynamic forms. I just drag a button from the object library, select "submit" as the button type. On the submit tab, I choose pdf from the menu under Submit as and then type "mailto:" in the url. I then Reader enable my form in Acrobat Pro X, save it again, and when you open it and click the button, it automatically opens whatever email program you have open on your computer.I hope this helps.

I used this on a checkbox to reveal a hidden subform, maybe it will work for you.if (this.rawValue == "1") { this.resolveNode("Name of Your Subform").presence = "visible";and to hide it again if the person unchecks the box (or button click in your case)if (this.rawValue == "0") { this.resolveNode("Name of Your Subform").presence = "hidden";

I also have to make sure that everything I make is ADA compliant and use Jaws read out loud software to test my documents. I can answer the first part of your question depending on what version of LiveCycle you are using. From the object library, select a button. Once on your form leave the button selected and from the object pallet tab, choose "submit" as your button type. Then go into the Submit tab and type in the URL that you want your pdf to go to. If you don't want it to go to a specific person, then just type "mailto:" in the URL space and select pdf from the drop down menu next to "submit as". Now this butto...

Here's how mine works, I put in the submit button, and in the submit dialogue tab I type in "mailto:" in the URL address and select the "pdf" from the drop down menu under "submit as". Then save it as either a static or dynamic pdf, Reader enable it and open it in Adobe Reader. Now when you click your submit button, an email should open up ready to be addressed where ever you want to mail it, with your pdf as an attachement.I hope this helps.

With the field selected, go to the "Font" tab and you will see currently editing caption and value. The menu arrow to the right allows you to selece just the caption (which what you want when you are going to change that text to BOLD) and then only the caption of the field will be bold and the value will be whatever regular text you want it to display.

When you place your image into your document, leave it selected and under the object tab there is an option to "Embed Image Data". Select that and you should be able to open that document anywhere and still have the clean graphic on the document.

you can also just put in mailto:and then it will open up whatever email program the person has, attach the pdf and be ready for the recipients email address. This way you don't have to specify one recipient. That is how we use it.

But in a case like this, it would come in handy. I understand that for a dynamic forms with a flowed main page subform, this would cause a problem. But in my case, the main page subform is not flowed, nor are there any subforms that are. I just want the button to open a hidden page. Perhaps that will be an option built in LiveCycle in the future that allows that function when the subforms are static. Thanks for your input. I'm so glad I found this forum. I was just given the LiveCycle software a...

No we are not using the form on the server, but have it on our infoNet for each user to download, fill out and save. I was trying to build instructions into the page itself, but we didn't want the instructions to always be present on the form. So the hidden page in the dynamic form was a perfect solution as it would only open if they clicked the button, but then they wouldn't be able to affix a digital stamp. I guess I just don't understand why a pdf can't do both. Why is commenting disabled on ...

I got the sample, thanks. But I'm not sure how you mean me to use it. If I put this in the folder of Reader, how will that work on the client's computer? And will this ask for the identity every time the client opens the form?

We are choosing to use digital stamps to approve documents because digital signatures created by individuals on their computers cannot be verified. I created one in my name, my boss' name and my dogs name. They all look the same on the form. Only the stamps display the user ID of who created them, so even tho I could change the name that was on the dynamic stamp, it still showed my user ID that I sign into our system on. Trust is a big issue and since the stamps can be identified, we've chosen t...

I have a form where we would like a second page to open upon button click which contains directions for the user to create a dynamic stamp to approve a document. The button works fine if the document is saved as a dynamic pdf but that defeats the purpose because commenting is disabled on a dynamic pdf. When I save it as a static pdf, the button does not open the second page with the instructions. We don't want the instruction page to be always visible nor do we want it to print if the page is no...

I would be interested in the answer to this also. We had someone ask to be able to insert a graphic from a file into the pdf. I set the pdf up like a template where they could add text for each month's mail out but didn't know how to allow them to insert their own graphics.

That seems like it should work but alas, it doesn't. Nothing shows in the field at all. Not even the negative numbers like I had before.

I always found it was a subform issue. I am able to delete pages by removing all items on that page, then selecting the subform for the page itself from the hierarchy tab, delete the subform and you will get a warning message that you are trying to delete the last subform for the page, click delete and then the page should delete.

Ok, here it is. The first column is where I'm trying to get the script to work in the field that says: Excess Assets. This is the field that I want to show a zero if the number calculated is a negative. That field also is scripted to the field at the bottom that says: "Your Monthly Resource Spenddown" so whatever appears in the Excess Assets field should also be calculated into the Resource spenddown. The second and third colums have the original scripting that would create a negative number in t...

That gave me quite a few errors when I opened it in Acrobat Pro and still didn't display a zero. Here is what it displayed:Script failed (langage is formCalc; context is xfa[0].form[0].form1[0],Page [0].Spenddown[0].Excess1[0])script= (then the script)Error: syntax error near token "on line 2, column 4294957295 (whatever that means)
