Data feeds / Classifications

I'm curious how others are handling classification data when bringing data feeds in-house. There doesn't seem to be a way to include in the data feeds or a way to schedule (s)FTP delivery. Other others manually downloading? Using API? Other options?

Yes, this would be a great companion to data feeds (it might even be nice to check a box in the new data feed admin to just include the classification files). Please also include SFTP support.

Thanks Ben. In addition to my original idea, the idea of importing tables from other workspaces is something I've wished for in the past as well. The saved vizualation is particularly useful from a time saving perspective and would be great for beginners. I think the import table is good for those one-off situations (and hopefully you could select multiple tables to bring in and not just one).

Analysis Workspace - Save Visualization to reuse
Avatar

I'd like to be able to save pre-built visualizations to use in other projects. To start with, Freeform Tables would be the biggest need (some other types may lend themselves, some may not). For example, I may built a table using video name, video start, video 25%, 50%, 75% and complete. That requires me to find a dimension and 5 metrics every time. I'd like to be able to save this table, then have a new option in the workspace menu on the left to find and reuse these.Advantages:* Saves users time...

Scheduled Project - Date override
Avatar

mikethompson

It would be nice if I could override the date(s) found in the workspace within the New/Edit Project screens. For example, we have some workspaces which people receive daily (using "This Month" or "Last 30 Days" as the default setting). However, another group get that same report at the beginning of the month for the previous month (using "Last Month"). This requires me to keep and update two separate workspaces.

If it is best practice, then maybe they should be added as fields to the form (or ideally, maybe present the proper fields depending on which product you are having issues with)? That would save some time going back and forth if you forget.

An administrator could do it without Adobe support if they knew how. You basically need permission to 1) change your marketing channel definitions 2) upload SAINT classifications. You'd then also need some way to know brand vs non-brand to create the two channels, perhaps through the campaign ID, keyword or some other value being passed in.

You can make each as a marketing channel, then upload a SAINT classification to roll them up. Not perfect for every scenario (you can't roll up in the Marketing Channel Overview), but works pretty well.

Agreed, this is a big limitation. I also posted some questions related to what histograms show when segments are applied at the panel level (they can't be applied on the histogram itself which is also a limitation) to the community that I'm hoping somebody can answer. http://help-forums.adobe.com/content/adobeforums/en/analytics-forum/analysis-workspace.topic.html/forum__tbl6-while_the_histogram.html

We've used page level rules to restrict where the mbox.js loads and use a top of page sequential javascript as you suggested. Since rules seem to fire in reverse alphabetically order, we named ours starting with ZZZ to ensure if would fire before any of our other top of page rules. We also used a data element to control which pages this rule fired on (using either URL patterns or data layer values) though you could also use the page conditions or custom condition.I'm not 100% sure on the MCID qu...

We had been seeing our video name variable renamed for a while, but can also confirm we are seeing additional items renamed (video views, video completes, time viewed). It's pretty confusing for our users since they cannot find these any longer. Our original issue was moved into bug AN-131660 if that helps (if you want to watch the release notes or reference this in any customer care tickets).

While the histogram is potentially useful and is easy to work with, I'm finding its lack of being able to handle calculated metrics and/or segments applied just to the visualization pretty limiting in how I'd want to use it. For example, I may just want to see portions of the site, certain types of devices, certain products.I did find that you can have a segment on the panel and the histogram seems to apply something. However, there are many cases where you wouldn't want that segment applied to ...

If the DTM Web properties page ever gets redone, that would also be a good spot to list # of rules needing approved/published (there are actually tons of things that could be added to this page to make an admin's life WAY easier).

You may still be able to use a non-sequential HTML on those.Or check out http://www.digitaldatatactics.com/index.php/2016/07/06/dtm-third-party/ or http://www.digitaldatatactics.com/index.php/2016/09/08/deploying-google-marketing/ which have information on various ways to implement tags. You may be able to rewrite the tag to get around the document.write.

DTM - Archive rules

On top of being able to deactivate rules, I would like a way to archive them as well (I think Target has something similar). This would make it so that the rules that you may not need any longer don't show up as you scroll through your list of page/event rules (some of our properties have 5+ pages of rules). However, we'd like to keep a copy to refer back to in case we ever needed to.

I'd like to have a visual way to break my workspaces into sections, something like in the attached file. You should be able to edit the text within it. Color selection would be nice, but not necessary.I guess you could use panels to separate things, but then you have to reset your dates/segments on a bunch of panels if you want to see different data.As an example use case, I have one large section of my site that has numerous subsections. I'd like to put one of these bars between each of the sub...

The %data element name% does still work in Non-Sequential HTML (both %data element name% and _satellite.getVar seem to work in Sequential HTML), but only if 'data element name' is defined in the data elements rules. Until a month ago, you could also just use a setVar to create the value even if 'data element name' wasn't explicitly defined and it would work, but no longer (thus my original post). Using %data element name% has always worked since we started using DTM over two years ago. I ended u...

Recently there was a change to DTM that made it so values passed in 3rd party Non-Sequential HTML tags via the %data element name% method no longer work if the data element isn't explicitly defined in the data element rules. This means you can no longer simply use setVar in a rule somewhere to define a value and read it in this way. This is having profound effects on how we typical handle marketing pixels. Traditionally, we use either page load rules or direct call rules to define the "configurat...

In this example, I see Jan, Feb, Mar.When there are two columns, Mar label is lost. When there are three or more columns, it goes to weekly mode instead of staying months (I've seen this happen with 4 months and 4 columns as well).I also saw this with a bar chart covering 4 months and 4 columns ...

I think for the conditional formatting case, that would be fine as you could always manually reset the values. Thinking about it, if my items are in red, for example, I'd probably still want them to be that way to show their value versus the entire set. Going back to the manual reset, you could add a new option to the conditional formatting UI: auto-generated for filtered values. A member of my team had some general feedback of alerting the user doing the filtering that this would apply. It coul...

I've mentioned this to Ben before as well. On top of making it difficult to get totals, we've also found people get confused by what that number is when we share reports. We've had to use similar workarounds -- either using segments or by using the "display only selected rows" feature. But as you stated, neither are quite ideal. My suggestion was to either have a toggle of which to show or just show both (it looks like there would be room to put the total on top and filtered below with some sort...

It would be nice to be able to relabel the column headers. This becomes even more important as you start getting 4 or 5 metrics and the names don't fit. Also, we, like many others, label our events/variables with (vXX, cXX or eXX) which is kind of clunky if you want to share the report with somebody. Also, the Community link in the Help menu lists as 'undefined' when you are in the tool.
