When we insert the same conkeyref into a topic more than once, it works fine and generates a PDF (Native PDF Publishing) -- in Author view.
If we try to look at the Source view, the XML Editor generates an error code of a duplicate ID and won't let us save or use the file with the same conkeyref used more than once.
Occasionally we need to use the same conkeyref in a topic, for conditioned content or for something like a button image that may be used more than once.
Is this a bug?
We use the source/code view quite often for speed and performance reasons.

Thanks, @sschnelbach , for reporting this. In version 4.4, we can reproduce it with conkeyref when the target element has the id attribute.
We have fixed this issue in the upcoming AEM Guides 4.6 On-Prem. Now, the source view will display a warning for duplicate IDs, allowing you to perform all operations and review them if they are unintentional.
Thanks,
Gunjan Kumar

Can you attach a screenshot of the error code in the source view?
