Show message on Submit Email until Email client opens

What I'd like to do is show a pop-up message to the User after they've clicked the Submit button that is displayed until either the 'which email client' pop-up appears or their email client is opened - any ideas on whether it's possible?

If you put up a message it will take over the screen until the user dismisses the meassage.
