My library palette doesn't let me draw lines...

I am creating a form from "artwork" and need to add lines to one of the pages. I am not allowed, however, edit the original document.

In my library palette,  the Line option is greyed out. Could anyone tell me why it's greyed out, and how to make it available so I can finish my form?

thank you SO much in advance!!!

Because it is artwork you have to go back to the original program that the artwork came from and add it there.

Artwork will only allow you to add field objects on top of the artwork.....it will not allow you to modify the boiler plate (the artwork).
