JS Vs. HTML5?

I'm a simply a user, I have no clue about any programing

Actually, we are a small firm, we gave development project of a small app to a software vendor, the app supposed to work for desktops and tablets/mobile devices. We assumed our app will be build based on JavaScript

But, the vendor said they will build our app based on HTML5

Pls. let us know HTML5 and JavaScript both are same?

HTML is what you see on the screen and JavaScript is what allow you to interact with it.

For more information use wikipedia or google, there are so many ressources out there. ;-)
