Floating Field issue for a beginner

Avatar

Level 1

Hi guys,

I'm attempting to populate a Floating Field with text from an earlier TextField (Company name information). When I click in the text body and choose 'Insert' > 'Floating Field', I get:

A red bordered floating text field located at the top right of the textbox I wish to be altered and

A reference to the field (for binding) in the text at the correct place, in curly brackets.

When I preview the PDF, the earlier textfield changes the text in the floating text box - however, I want it to change the placeholder reference text in curly brackets, within the body. This section in the body text just appears blank at this point.

It's probably a simple issue, but how do I get the text where I need it?

Thanks

Floating fields are not meant to be interactive. They are used for merging a data stream into the form and at the merge time they are resolved and changed to static text. That being said there are clever people out there that have made interactive floating fields work but it is very complicated. Here is a link to a blog entry with a solution.

It is a two part blog entry
