Dropdown Overwritten from Access DB

I have created a data connection (Printers) to an Access DB and I have also created a dropdown which reads the fields from the database.  I have set the binding to Global as I want the printer shortname to be selected and the printer description to be defaulted from the shortname. However when the form is signed and emailled to a recipient the value in the dropdown reverts back to the first value in the database. I have no default set under the Value tab.
