serial number needed to try flex automation

Avatar

I'm running the Flex Automation Installer to install the
plugins needed to evaluate use of QuickTest Professional for
automated Flex 2 testing. The Installer requires entry of a Flex
Data Services serial number. (The applications I want to test do
not use Flex Data Services, so this seems an odd requirement for
evaluation of the test tool.) How can I get the needed serial
number? If this requires discussion with someone at Adobe who
oversees my organization's Flex licenses, how would I determine who
that is and how to contact him or her? Is it necessary to purchase
a Flex Data Services license to evaluate QTP automated testing of
Flex 2 apps?

dumb_drammer,

In your previous reply in step 5.1.4 you have told to
compile the application. But in my case I can not compile the
application. My application is an Web based application and in a
page Flash objects are to be identified by QTP. I have already
installed QTP Add-In for Flex as per the steps you mentioned. Now
what to do next?

Please advice...

I have QTP 9.0 in my machine....Can anybody tell me whether
it is possible to automate mainframe or not using this version of
QTP. If yes then what are the prerequisites for it?

Does anybody know whether QTP9.0 supports Flex or not?

Hi Adobe,

I need to do a 'Feasibility Test' on my FLEX 2.0 application
with QTP 9.2.I have downloaded and installed 14 day trial version
of QTP 9.2 .Also, i have downloaded 'Adobe flex automation
installer'(flex plugin to QTP).But i am not able to install this
plugin as i do not have the serial number for it.Is it possible for
you to generate a 14 day trial serial number for flex plugin(
'Adobe flex automation installer')so that i can continue with the
feasibility testing?or else is there any other way out?

Download Flex Builder 3 Beta 3 from Labs which has a version
of the QTP plugin that will work with your 2.0.1 application
without the license restriction.

Hi Adobe,

Thanks for the suggestion.Actually my oganization possessed
FDS license(which i was not aware of). And, we used that respective
serial number to install flexATWin.exe.Now am able to see flex
plugin in my QTP application.I activated it (along with the ActiveX
and Web Plugins)and recorded a small scenario on my Flex 2.0
application.Still, objects are being recognised as
"MacromediaFlashPlayerActiveX" objects. And, if i enable only flex
plugin and Web plugin (No ActiveX plugin) then QTP is not recording
the scenario at all...............!!!?!!!

What i do next? please guide.

Thanks

Hi,

I too faced the same problem. I have a license key and I
installed the flex automation successfully. But I did not get the
addin listed in the Addin screen QTP(9.1). And also, the flex
objects were not recognised by QTP. DId you get any reply from
Adobe???

When we launch the application from Flex Builder 2 , we get
the application login window with the link
http://192.1xx.192.1xx:8008/QQTP9.5_MAY07/abc.
This is recognized by QTP9.5 . But, when we try to login to this
application, the clock cursor never stops rotating .And we will not
be able to login to this application .

Reason for this behavior:

Flex Builder 2 Compiler does not recognize the argument
-services
"E:\depot\install\appserver\autodeploy\Dorado\WEB-INF\flex\
services-config.xml ". It shows an error message as follows:

Unexpected child element 'flex-client' found in
'services-config'

is there a way to overcome this problem?
